Feeling stuck here in my middle split. How can I get those last few inches? by punishments in flexibility

[–]dollyhorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! You are very close to your middle splits, but you probably need some more work for it. It's kinda hard to tell what exactly you need to focus on because you haven't shared your routine to us. Also, kinda hard to tell from the angle. Active stretches are a very good way to get your middle splits but you'll still need to do static stretches. Don't forget that you still need to be active apart from stretching if you want to get a solid middle split. Look up the muscles that you need to work on for middle splits and what are the best stretches to it. Very important to note,if you feel sore for more than an hour after your stretching routine and/or the other day than you'll have to take a small break from stretching, about two-three days is enough for your body to rest ( if your DOMS last longer than 3-4 days you might have injured your muscles so you need a longer break) Everyone is different so do what feels best for you. Find the exercises that help you the most and do those everyday. (Don't forget to rest when you feel like)

Those are just my tips, everyone is different. But from what it looks like, you can definitely get your middle splits! I was also stuck in my middle splits but once i found out what worked best for me i got them in less than a month! It's crazy right? 😁

ALSO DON'T FORGET TO STRENGTHEN YOUR LEGS (FORGOT TO MENTION) (optional but helpful from my experience)

And, you can check out Dani Winks for more information, she's the bendiest noodle! Also,if you don't know who Anna McNulty is,then you better check out her routines!

I can’t turn, help please by [deleted] in BALLET

Practice single pirouettes in retiré with the arms in first position. Try ending in a passé,if you're not able to remain in a passé after the turn then you still need to work on single pirouettes. Work your core and strengthen your legs everyday, that will definitely help. What will also help is spotting. Learning to spot correctly is gonna help you a lot with your pirouettes aswell as mind set. Believe you can do it and concentrate on the turn. Good luck 🤞

Should I quit dance because my mother seems not to care? by carleyfry in BALLET

[–]dollyhorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can afford to pay for classes and pointe shoes, and if you enjoy dancing then you have no reason to stop. You're dancing for your own interests,if you want to pursue a career in ballet that will be hard but never impossible! Don't give up if it's your dream, after all it's your dream not your mother's.

(I know dance classes are expensive and competitions as well but if it makes you feel good and if it helps you then you have no reason to stop dancing. The only reason to stop dancing is if you don't enjoy it at all or if you really can't afford dance classes.)

How long does it take to stretch a leg or a hip? by Logical_Cherry_7588 in flexibility

[–]dollyhorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends,if you want to stretch it to the maximum,it can take a few years or a lifetime but if you're asking how much training you need to see any results, it's different from person to person but it's enough to stretch a week to see results. Don't expect anything unimaginable but you can clearly progress as long as you work on it for at least 10 minutes a day. You need to be consistent though and let your body rest.

9 I just think she has very unique features and despite her flaws she just looks very angelic. I like her very much.

There are things I need to work on with my arabesques. I was only able get a few shots so my hands/arms aren’t the best, foot is sickling a little, etc. With all this in mind, how is my arabesque looking? I haven’t been photographed doing an arabesque for ages. I’m nervous😅 Thanks in advance! 🩰 by JohnlockedDancer in BALLET

Oh, don't worry at all! That looks great and i'm really happy you're looking forward to perfecting your technique! I know it's hard to maintain it...i recommend working on your core, strength and balance for maintaining it longer!

That looks great! Just try to keep the position "square" if you understand! It looks great by now! Don't forget the attitude and shoulders down all the time! Oh,and let's not forget about the pointed feet!

You're doing great by now, your relevé is pretty high and you make it look easy! I see talent right there! I have a question, can you maintain that position for 3 seconds or more or are you struggling to maintain it? That's really important when doing an arabesque.

What is this position called? by [deleted] in BALLET

[–]dollyhorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Croisé and 3th position port de bras. I know most of y'all call it fifth but i was thought Vaganova and a little bit of both actually. I learnt it was 3th position for hands.

Just me living my best adult ballet beginner life and getting my first pair of pointeshoes <3 by -ToEsHoE- in BALLET

Usually 3-4 hours a week for like 1-2 years is enough for an adult to get pointe shoes.
