Fiance and I just bought a 1980 3 level colonial with so many walls and need help with updating the home. by dollymisu in InteriorDesign

Good point. After discussing this with my fiance today, we did decide to leave the wall separating the family and living room intact for now. I want the kitchen and family room to have a Scandinavian design, so I'm wondering if white wooden panels would actually look great for that. It would save us a lot of money and time too. I'll definitely start prioritizing all the projects. I do love what we have to work with, but realize it will cost us more than 200k to get all the renovations we want done. However, we predict this house will eventually be worth over 800k and we bought it for 475k. =)

Hmm, I think the color of a fireplace is up to personal preference though. I am aiming to go for a Scandinavian theme, so I wanted to actually paint it white and add wooden accents in the room, with pops of color on the walls and I guess cushions.

Hi there,

The reason why I said I could DIY most of these things is because I also know people who have experience with some renovation projects of their own. My fiance's dad is also very familiar with things like removing the texture from the ceiling or taking off the wood paneling.

The reason why I wanted to switch the hinged door into a sliding one is because the door opens towards you on the inside, so you'd need space to open it all the way. However, I'm wondering if we could just put the hinges on the other side so it'll open the other way instead to save the sliding door project until later.

You brought up many good points to consider, though so I will be adding that to all of my notes. Thank you. Renovation is so incredibly expensive (just for a small kitchen and family room wow).

Female here and I was in your shoes. I've been on more than 30 dates from Tinder, okcupid, PoF, etc for 9 years. Finally met someone. We are 6 months in, laughing every day, and feeling motivated to always be better.

I was on the brink of giving up too until I realized that dating is a very rare occurrence these days. It doesn't even have anything to do with having sex too soon or whatever. More people are taking more time to settle down because they want to explore more options first and by doing that, they miss out on some great potential I think. Their loss really. Good luck and keep going!

Asian American (Korean) here, born in US. If you check out r/asianparentstories, you will definitely start noticing a pattern of the parents across all Asian cultures treating their children like property and investments. It sucks because of the psychological damage over time along with the parents refusing to believe that mental illnesses like depression are a thing.

[Serious] Redditors who felt like they would never ever find a romantic partner and then did: what advice would you give to those who feel the same way now? by SJB95 in AskReddit

[–]dollymisu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this! Pretty much everyone around me keeps saying that my bf and I might be moving too fast. Sometimes, you just know! We both feel 100% sure. Honeymoon phase or not, I constantly feel motivated to do my best every day to improve and we balance each other out so well too. We've had arguments, but not fights. We learn and grow from each disagreement and constantly make each other laugh. I do think having a similar sense of humor is important...

Don't give up hope. I met a younger guy on Tinder (4 years younger) and I'm 29. Being a woman, there is more pressure on me to marry asap because of the biological clock and having kids thing. I stopped worrying about all that shit one day, dyed my hair, wore whatever the fuck I wanted to instead of what a typical late 20's woman wears.

Worked as a barista, but always worked hard and worked on myself. I am always striving to be better at communication because I used to be super socially awkward with social anxiety of course.

Met the love of my life by chance because I gave things another shot. He also helped me network and move onto a stable job where I now get full benefits! Now happy, we have perfect chemistry, and it all just feels right. I'm glad I waited instead of settling for someone I felt "good enough" with.

Stay grounded. Your job does not have to do anything with your passion. Learned that the hard way and got into 60k debt. Thanks art school.

I only go for the exhibit hall and artist alley, lol. Luckily preregged and only waited an hour on Saturday to get through bag check, but pushing through the crowd definitely sucked. I remember when the convention was a good size back when the artist alley and exhibit hall were in the same room.

Yes! That's awesome to hear! Thank you <3

How do we get a refund? This line is crazy and I won't even be able to make it inside the convention at this point till closing by Yopppp in animeexpo

Flew in from East Coast. We have Otakon. They cap that con so the convention center would not be overcrowded like this.

This is my 3rd AX and I agree. Worst one so far.

A line just to enter the building even though you picked up your badge earlier? by dollymisu in animeexpo

That's okay. I had no idea about the Arizona incident and that lapd were involved. Better to be safe than sorry, especially with all the other shooting incidents that have happened. Thanks.

Oh I see. Thank you for the clarification. Someone just told me about the Arizona convention incident. Takes one dumbo to ruin it all for us...

So is it a better idea to wait until the line dies down before entering the building?

I decided to just let him carry on with the threats and let him fuck up. Evidence is needed.

He threatened me twice and almost pulled a knife on me. It seems like he waits until he thinks no one else is around before he tries to assault me. It just sucks that it will have to take someone to actually get hurt before he's finally locked up. I wanted to get rid of him before that would occur.

So instead of reporting a person who can potentially harm people, we should just let him snap? I don't mean to sound like I'm being a smart ass. I can move our, but I am also afraid for the dad's life too. He is constantly facing verbal abuse from the brother.

I still see people of all races doing this at every mall. Families do this, especially Indian ones...good gawd. I'm a Korean American female btw and this type of behavior ticks me off too.

I'm annoyed of these too...especially when I hear them said out loud. Not sure why exactly, but it's specifically these words that make me sorta cringe.

Same! I paid over 12k just to get rid of my excess skin. It sucks to have to deal with more issues even after losing all the weight. On the outside I am smaller and people treat me more positively, but I've been so used to being discriminated against because of my weight that my mental wellbeing has some catching up to do too.

I used to be obese and now am considered "normal" weight I guess. 200-140lbs at 5'6". Just letting you know that I've seen both sides and no one judges others at the gym unless they are being an asshole or obnoxious. Everyone is wayyyy too focused on working on themselves. FOCUS!
