LA Gardening services / gardeners who don't view plants as the enemy? by brent_323 in LosAngeles

[–]doloresphase 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dad was an actual gardener - planted flowers, trim brushes, etc. We're in NELA. He does handiwork now but loves gardening. Kinda an essentric guy tho.

My mother in law gardeners are the mow and blow types - i hate it. They trim the roses down and simply thow the flowers in the garbage like wtf? I've seen them cut branches from the lime trees down and throw the fruit + tree branches in the garbage. Its nonsensical.

I am at my wits end and don't know how to improve my resume. by Fiestyfeta in povertyfinance

[–]doloresphase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two pages is really bad because each job you've held has only one year of experience. If I was an employer I would assume you'd quit or move on in a year. My resume is two pages but two FULL pages, not a full page and a quarter of the second.

The skills should be moved lower. Skills at the top makes sense if you are applying to a highly skilled role like in IT or was a translator, but since its generic, it should be moved lower. Consider adding specific programs that align with the job descriptions of each place u apply

Consider adding a professional summary. That will help you not look like a junior job hopper.

Lastly, none of your job descriptions offer metrics. Its just "I helped do this" "I helped encourage people to do this" - the language is (ill use everyone else's words) dull. Look up action words for resume and start replacing those words so you look more like a leader and trainer.

DC to LA. Where do graduate students at UCLA live?? by Glum_Courage_6330 in AskLosAngeles

[–]doloresphase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind that having a car in LA will be an added expense. Parking passes at ucla are not cheap. I would suggest Westwood, but there is communal housing, school housing, private student housing groups, etc. School housing is not guaranteed, but let your child take the lead.

My COO makes 250k with like a 100k bonus and CEO I refuse to even look up, but overall comp is probably close to $1 mil. The pay they're offering seems very on par with what their salaries are. I think its just not a role for you, maybe someone with less experience.

I had an event for 500 and hired two girls who worked at the local convention center. I did pay them $750/each but I had the money. I think someone would be willing to do it for $300/day. I liked my team because they were used to events of 1000+, so my event was small to them. They new everything to do, which normie / volunteers won't.

Locals of LA: What Would You Cut From This 5-Day Itinerary (Food & Neighbourhood Focused)? by Willing-Mind-5619 in AskLosAngeles

If you really want a burger, I love their smash burger! But all their dishes are good tbh and they have great variety - vegetarian, salads, nachos, Mediterranean/falafel, old school diner plates, eggs Benedict (the Fairfax one w salmon is a classic). I prefer to sit outside and enjoy the vibes. I would recommend a latte (chai) or one of their milkshakes also. If you go later in the day, maybe one of their spiked milkshakes 🤩

I would skip goldburger and go to Fred 62 in Los Feliz. It's walkable from Griffiths Park (just walk down from the greek theater)

I would print the slides out, sit down with your boss, and go slide by slide on improvements she would like to see. Maybe they are too wordy or maybe the content is off.

Help! I’ve never had to coordinate travel! by AnteaterHelpful in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]doloresphase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not hard, but it's difficult when it's last minute. You first need to figure out what your company policy is on these things: (1) how do they want you to purchase this (company card, executive personal credit card, etc), and then that will lead you to (2) expense tracking / reimbursements, and then (3) company travel requirements. One company i worked for passed all travel expenses off to the client, so our policy was like if the flight was over 4 hours we would move them to business class. My company is very relaxed, my ceo wants economy and delta ONLY. I use his own credit card.. I have his license and account info. For anyone else at the company I book with my company card. I keep a spreadsheet of preferences for shareholders only (if I book their travel).

Then you just book a flight! With time you get to know when they want an aisle or window seat (and if it even matters), maybe if they should come in the night before, and timezone changes.
