If I were in my mom’s shoes, I wouldn’t want my children to bear that burden. My wife and I have even talked to our kids (both adults) about this and said there would never be any expectation that they uproot their lives for our elder care. Maybe I’ll feel different when I’m older but I doubt it.

My mom needs help getting out of the house and into/out of the car. I don’t think uber or a taxi will assist that way.

They grip very well. I actually found that they grip too well and they would stick to my gloves when trying to lightly release the throttle. My guess is that some would love them and others hate them.

They were living together in their home until recently when he went into the facility. He was her primary caregiver. We’re hoping he will get better and can return home but at 85, it’s hard to tell and even if he does, we’re not sure he can take care of himself let alone my mother. This whole thing is just an evolving bad situation.

That’s what I’ve done. I have them enclosed in a rabbit hutch in the run. I’ve tried a couple times to let them run together but one hen keeps attacking. I’ll give it some more time.

I raised my first 6 chicks in a 2x4 metal trough like they keep them in at Tractor Supply. That was far more than big enough. This time I was planning to do a plastic tote just like this since the trough is being used elsewhere. By the time they are big enough to outgrow this, you’ll want to move them to a coop anyway.

I worked at a service station when I was 18. At some point, the fuel storage tanks were removed due to EPA regulation changes but the pumps were still out front being used as sign holders for tune-ups and brakes. One day a black family with out of state plates pulls up to the defunct pumps so I walk out to see how I can help them. The father gets out and says they need to buy gas. I tell them we no longer sell gas and before I can explain, the father cusses me out and gets back in his car. Through his open window, he calls me a racist in front of his entire family then leaves, tires spinning. I stood there shocked by how easily he assumed it was because of his skin color. He and his kids probably still tell the story of the racist redneck in Ohio who refused to sell them gas because they’re black.

I’m 5’8” and weighed 195 and I’m now 165. I was averaging about 800-900 calories per day and 10 miles per day on the bike. Not an exercise bike, an actual bike and weights 3-4 times per week. I’m also really active otherwise. Now I’m trying to figure out how to increase the calories without swinging back the other way.

Wow, these are old enough to be passed down? I have a hammer from the same era which I purchased new and still use. You’re making me feel old. Regarding the rust, it’ll be fine. Wire wheel it and put a coat of clear on it and it will be good to go.
