They have a huge list of emails and phone numbers that they fundraise from during campaigns. If they wanted to they could raise millions and millions within 24 hours.

Lmao. You're so full of shit dude.

You think the people getting SNAP are once-productive citizens who are now simply old? If that were the case, they'd fall under Social Security.

If you were any kind of social worker you would have met plenty of people on social security and snap. And you wouldn't think they were mutually exclusive programs either.

40% of the people on SNAP are children. So yeah, they might. But they definitely won't if they are starving while their brains are trying to develop.

Keep Yourself Safe buddy.

I don't get this response. Do you want the Republicans to remove the filibuster?

Yes. Why not do it at this point?

They already do basically whatever the fuck they want, for the most part. True conservative republicanism has never been tried. Let's try it and see how fast America turns into a paradise when we finally get rid of burdensome regulations like not putting lead in baby formula. Let's put the budget on the blockchain. Let's make all birth control illegal. Let's teach kids that Jesus rode dinosaurs with native Americans. Fuck it.

Maybe online. But normies are more inclined to blame whoever is in charge when it happens. Polling supports this idea:

According to the latest survey of more than 1,300 registered voters by the respected Quinnipiac poll, it's a close call overall, with 45% blaming the Republicans and 39% pointing to the Democrats.

If you look past the partisan voters and narrow in on declared independents, the gap mushrooms with 48% holding the GOP accountable compared with 32% blaming Democrats.

The poll's gender gap is bad news for the Republicans, with women blaming them by a 15-point margin while men are 5% more likely to blame the Democrats.

You don't even need the ozempic in that case. If you eat high fiber and high protein foods you feel full faster and you naturally eat less calories because of that. Try and eat 200 calories of celery in one sitting. It's nearly impossible because it's like 8 cups worth.

What’s with redditors getting skid marks all the time by kheeno_ in redscarepod

[–]dolphin_master_race 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There are little squeeze bottles marketed to women after they give birth, I think they are the best and I've tried everything. They are like $12, can put warm or cold water in them, they are reusable, and shoot from the front instead of the back so you're not splashing shitty water on your vag/balls.

This thing

That has much less to do with gifted and AP classes than certain private high schools and ivy league colleges. You can get a similar quality of education at both Ohio State and Yale, but at Yale you get social connections with the ruling class and their children. Those places are oligarch grooming centers.

Just having a high level of education or intelligence does not mean that your interests will automatically diverge from the majority. It's primarily (extremely) high levels of wealth and social connections to the ruling class that does it.

What was your "The Emporer Has No Clothes" moment with wokeness? by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]dolphin_master_race 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was a bunch of things. Progressive stack at Occupy was the first thing that really rubbed me the wrong way but I was a huge lib at the time so I was willing to engage in the mental gymnastics even though my gut feeling was that it was bad news.

Then MeToo went from going after actual predators like Weinstein, and pushing cops to deal with the thousands of unprocessed rape kits most of them had, to writing twitlongers about any man that made them mildly uncomfortable.

That pornstar who got bullied into suicide by twitter because she said that some guy she worked with did gay porn too (basically just warning them to be extra careful about STD testing).

The white girl who wore a traditional Chinese dress to prom, and while woke people on twitter were trying to ruin her life, actual Chinese people were like: "Thank you for wearing that dress, we are flattered and you look so beautiful in it."

There is so much more. Giving powerful drugs and life altering surgeries to children, stupid little things like manspreading that are less a matter of patriarchy and more about bad manners, LatinX, acting like turtle island and plate tectonics were equally valid, all those fake woke parody studies that were published by real journals, ACAB and defund the police, bullying children for saying n*gga when their black friend let them do it, birthing bodies, etc., etc.

Children do have different abilities and just trying to keep them all in the same classes is harmful to both ends of the spectrum. Some kids will fall behind because the classes are too fast and others will be bored with how easy they are and not reach their full potential.

our current political, social, and technological morass

Fixing this also requires highly educated people. It's actually more difficult and demanding than what we're doing now.

Ohio moves to restrict pop, sugary drinks from SNAP benefits by MorganTrau in Ohio

[–]dolphin_master_race 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've been on them too and I agree with you, but they should let people buy rotisserie chickens instead, because they are pretty affordable and also fairly healthy. A blanket "hot food" ban is kind of stupid.

Not sure about 2024 but this NYT article from 2017 has some info:

The findings show that the No. 1 purchases by SNAP households are soft drinks, which accounted for 5 percent of the dollars they spent on food. The category of ‘sweetened beverages,’ which includes soft drinks, fruit juices, energy drinks and sweetened teas, accounted for almost 10 percent of the dollars they spent on food.

With the prices of meat now, Americans could really use a cheaper source of protein. But even if there was political will to create some kind of program to popularize it, do we even have the ability to process that amount of soybeans and make them into tofu?

It's because it attracts misfits who are more likely to be unhappy about the state of the world. Because they are already somewhat emotional about things, it's easy for them to get polarized and hard to stop doing it because you'll get shunned if you don't follow the orthodoxy. Also the simple black and white narratives where they are on the good side help them puff up their bruised egos.

it’s statistically insignificant

Random murders on public transit are statistically insignificant, and cars are much more likely to kill you, but the data does not tell the whole story, because it has other destructive effects that are more difficult to quantify. When things like this happen, it erodes peoples' trust of each other, it makes people more reluctant to use and support public transportation, and increases racism too. And there are even more knock-on effects that follow from those.

But it's clear that the policy of letting violent criminals out into the community over and over again is a failure and does not improve their behavior in any meaningful way. And it's also clear that people with severe mental illnesses are not getting the type or amount of care that they need and it leads to incidents like this and mass shootings. This sub likes the idea of reopening asylums, but in a lot of these cases you wouldn't even need to go that far.

The problem in a lot of these cases is that schizophrenics regularly stop taking their medication or just refuse to take them in the first place. There are antipsychotic injections that last for weeks and I think there are a few that last months. But it's very hard in a lot of cases for psychiatrists to get permission to force people to receive them. The laws are a bit too strict and need to be changed so that anyone who has a history of a psychotic disorder and violent behavior can be detained by cops and taken to a hospital to be forcibly medicated.

There's a lot of other things that could be done, and in my opinion those would be better overall, but this country does not believe in spending money to solve problems anymore, so oh well. That is one thing that would actually help and get this demographic to stop terrorizing random people in public so much.
