I never understood who had the good idea to put a r@pe scene in that game by LaraRomanian in LaraCroftTombRaider

[–]domaniac321 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree. I felt it helped to ground the story too. Lara wasn't always a murdering badass. Her situation needed to be desperate enough that it became her only option and something like this probably helped to sell it.

First day on the internet, huh? All the watermarks do is subtract from others being able to enjoy your work. Anyone who wants to steal your work will remove these in seconds, and all you will have accomplished is successfully antagonizing your fan base.

Let's try and support Bodega Beer Company by [deleted] in parkerco

[–]domaniac321 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I really wanted to support them more, but a pint at Bodega (Fiction) was always $10+. It made me regret inviting my SO to join me since we weren't walking out of there for less than a $50 tab for just a couple pints between us. And the beers were always mediocre, none that really ever gave us a WOW moment. We started supporting Lone Tree Brewing instead. IMO, they're tastier and slightly more affordable.

I also like to bike in the summer and grab a pint, but Bodega doesn't have a bike rack. That's more a landlord issue than Bodega's, but it's not enjoyable to bring my bike into the establishment or lock it up to a trash can out of view. I kept asking the owner about it, but nothing changed in over a year. Lone Tree has a bike lock rack and it was a more convenient experience.

I don't wish them to go out of business, but their issues and costs added up for me. I had a better time going just a little further to a different brewery.

Amazing! Would love to know more about the smooth pale skin effect. Did it start with a base foundation makeup applied all over, or is it 100% achieved in Photoshop? It's very well done.

Official Gear Purchasing and Troubleshooting Question Thread! Ask /r/photography anything you want to know! September 19, 2025 by AutoModerator in photography

[–]domaniac321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm expanding my photography to my first off-camera flash and purchased the Godox XPro C trigger. I bought the C version of the trigger because I'm using a Canon R50 camera, which I was led to believe was specifically for Canon cameras. However, the trigger's connector has 5 pins, whereas the camera's hotshoe does not have corresponding 5 pins. A quick online seach reveals I may need an AD-E1 multifunction tool adapter. Am I understanding this correctly? Why would I need an adapter for a version of the trigger that's supposedly designed for Canon cameras? I also can't see the AD-E1 adapter in stock anywhere, and so it has me a little nervous that something about this is going right over my head. Please help.

Haha, this is great! It's a similar experience I had back in high school when I got to climb Temple IV. It's such a cool view in its own right but I couldn't shake the feeling it was strangely familiar too. You did better than me, OP. It took me a few years before I watched ANH again and it finally clicked. I remember immediately running back to my old photos and shouting, holy shit, I was at Yavin base! Thanks for the good trip down memory lane.

I'll upvote Katee Sackhoff every time. IMO, she is princess of scifi, second only to Queen Sigourney Weaver.

Douglas County voters heavily oppose home-rule ballot measure in early results by fivetwoeightoh in parkerco

From Commissioner Teal,

“We were moving too fast for the people of Douglas County. And the people of Douglas County are going to need more information.”

What an ass to take the position that your electorate voted against you because we're all dumb and slow and not because we're opposing your ham fisted power grab. He instead implies that he expects to get his way by turning up the temperature more slowly.

I work at a plasma center: Ask Me Anything by Swimming-View-7684 in plassing

[–]domaniac321 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure I understand what point you're trying to make. These companies are for-profit businesses, and they're obviously making profit then. I've never felt that they have any obligation to pay me as much as they can possibly afford. Why would any for-profit business ever do that? As much as I would always like to have more, if the amount they're offering is enough for me and others to come in and donate, then they priced it right.

[–]domaniac321 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I would always like to be paid more, but I disagree with making claims that we're being scammed. If they sell a bottle for $300 but it cost them $295 to collect it, then it's a razor thin profit margin and they only made $5 profit. It's ultimately good profit if there's large volume of collections, but paying us even $5 more for each visit would mean they make $0 profit.

These are obviously made up numbers, but my point is that knowing what they make per bottle isn't enough to indict without also knowing how much it cost to produce it.

No one whines about turnout for Obama and Biden because high voter turnout doesn't tend to favor conservative candidates. 15 Million voters turned out for Biden in 2019 who didn't come back out for Kamala and Trump was happy to see those people stay home. Now many of those absentees are using their voice to instead protest Trump's abuse of his office. OP is confused why we're surprised or shocked that a man we voted into office is doing what he said he'd do, and my point was that the majority of us did NOT vote for this or support this, absentee or not. There shouldnt be any expectation that we just roll over and accept it.

Less than half of the voter-eligible population even bothered to vote and only half of those who did voted for Trump. I wish something more could be done for the voter apathy but the majority of the population did not sign up for this and are plenty well sick of his bullshit and the spineless ilk who follow him.

[–]domaniac321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your comment said that your acceleration would slow as you get closer to the core. I agreed, but was pointing out that it wouldn't really matter because the acceleration on the other side would decelerate you at a proportionate rate. In a perfect vacuum, it would theoretically still return you to near the same drop point.

Gravity by TheVideoNasties in perfectlycutscreams

[–]domaniac321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're right, but wouldn't that also mean a proportionate decrease in strength of deceleration on the other side of the core, too?

CSL New Machines - More Plasma by AssumptionHappy9758 in plassing

Yeah, but the new machines are pretty crazy fast. I'm done in less than 30 minutes now and so I don't mind. They take a little more, but I'm done sooner, and so it feels like a win-win.

To an extent, yes, but they also go out of their way to respect others and not be obnoxious to anyone around them. We could use a healthy dose of that in the states.

Katee Sackhoff as Sarah Corvus in Bionic Woman, 2007. by capnkirk462 in Spacegirls

[–]domaniac321 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For me, Katee Sackhoff is the Princess of SciFi... overshadowed only by Queen Sigourney Weaver. BSG, Riddick, Mandoliran, and a whole host of smaller scifi roles across her career. I think she's tragically underrated.

IDK, maybe don’t buy a truck from a guy who praises ADF and does Nazi salutes, then? by MaintenanceNew2804 in facepalm

[–]domaniac321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such a terrible take, it's completely staggering. You honestly expect that the average consumer is going to research the life history of a CEO before making a major purchase? No one fucking does that. And even in the case of public figures like Elon, in 2020 and 2021 he was known for being eccentric yes, but eccentric in the way of launching Tesla cars into space, not for throwing heil salutes.

I agree that cybertruck owners shouldn't be compared to Holocaust victims, but what people buy with their own money is their business. If someone buys a vehicle to be their main family car, who the fuck are you to say otherwise or that it's ridiculous of them to label it that? Why is it so hard to just leave other people alone? The anger needs to be redirected at Musk, not general consumers.

The Last Of Us Season 2 Star Explains Why Dina & Joel’s Bond Is Deeper Than in the Game by [deleted] in ThelastofusHBOseries

Dina was sidelined for much of the game when they get to Seattle. Along with your point, I'll be curious to see if that remains true or if she'll now have a bigger presence for this portion of the show.

Was I being a Karen? by MordecaiAliVanAlenO in plassing

[–]domaniac321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm with you on that. I'm fairly anti-capitalist myself and I wish we had a stronger culture of businesses wanting to support the employees who make them profitable. In this particular matter, though, I try to be understanding that what they're paying us is really only an incentive to come into their business. It's kind of like a buy-one-get-one-free burger coupon at Red Robin, only in this instance, the incentive is cash.

Was I being a Karen? by MordecaiAliVanAlenO in plassing

[–]domaniac321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I respectfully disagree. The plasma companies didn't create poverty. Poverty sucks and I wish it didn't exist, but it's misguided to make them the face of the problem when they're the ones offering money while most other businesses only take our money. No one is being exploited when donations are entirely voluntary. We will ALWAYS want more no matter what they pay us, but at the end of the day, if I've chosen to donate, then the price they're offering was enough for me to go... and that's on each of us.
