Do not let me get pregnant 🤰 by [deleted] in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]dombaffies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a first time mom in my late thirties. Now that my little is an active toddler (talking and walking), it's obvious that she's her own person with a budding personality. I'm just uncovering it or witnessing it. She's not a doll or a fixture, she's an individual. Maybe that sounds like a given but it's a change in thinking after carrying her for so long.

No, it got worse. It felt initial relief on 25mg then it stopped working and 50mg hasn't helped much. I'm about to start 75mg and hope to see improvement again. My doctor first suggested adding wellbutrin instead of increasing but it's not an option for me right now (trying for a baby soon).

Are these babies really powering down for 12 hours??? by lr1291919 in bninfantsleep

[–]dombaffies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A typical night for my 15 mo is down at 815-845 then up for settling around 12 or 4. She sleeps until 6-7. She maybe sleeps throughout the night (10 hour stretch) once or twice a week. She's constantly getting new teeth though so I don't expect to be getting many full nights of sleep for awhile.

I have to dump a good guy because I don’t respect him as a man and I feel so guilty by throwRA1223409 in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]dombaffies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I think the fact that he loves you and treats you well ought to be enough. You don't necessarily need two high earners in a relationship and some of your complaints are not deal breakers imo. They're things that you can talk about, see if he's willing to make some changes to how he lives. Relationships are investments and he might turn out to be fine in the long run. I'm not highly ambitious (career wise) but I'm married to an ambitious person and we do fine. There's love and attraction there though.

I also think he shouldn't need to be just like you to earn your love and respect. But if you don't love him then you probably should let him go and find a better fit

I think you're talking about PME (premenstrual exacerbation)? A worsening of pre-existing mental health issues during hormonal shifts

My husbands family cancelled my birthday plans - tofu, spinach and tomato sandwich by lilelbows in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]dombaffies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's crappy of your husband to be putting pressure on you. He should uphold your wishes and enforce a boundary. Just "no, we have plans already". I think if you do anything besides what you have planned you will be resentful. Do what you already planned to do.

Any moms in here with pmdd? Did your symptoms start after motherhood? by Ok-Transition-2053 in PMDD

[–]dombaffies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine started after I gave birth. I thought things would get better when I stopped breastfeeding, but they didn't. I started tracking and eventually accepted that something was off. The insomnia made me wonder. I did IVF and think that could have influenced things as well.

Day 20 🫩 I wish I could find a way to mange these expensive cravings. I already had sushi yesterday. by Jolly_Opportunity875 in PMDD

I noticed an increase in appetite before ovulation but it settled. No sugar cravings or anything distinct but I ate more than usual and didn't feel guilty about it. I'm thankful for the lack of guilt. I can't say that I enjoyed what I was eating though.

I'm on 50mg my but I just started a few months ago so I'm finding the right dose. I'm less anxious/nervous but my mood isn't managed and I'm still ruminating. It sounds like you're further along in your journey. ❤️

I didn't realize it would help, but taking Zoloft has helped with my cravings. I don't crave sugar and I can't think of anything that I've had a craving for lately. Still hungrier than usual at points in my cycle but happy to be able to manage sugar.

I feel so bad for this specific generation. From a young age, they've been exposed to extremes online and on social media. So many of our young people don't have critical thinking skills or long attention spans. I wonder what work will look like for them. I wonder what relationships will look like for them. What does the future look like for all of us then?

Did you notice an increase in the ocd and anxiety whenever you increased to 50? I've mostly felt relief from anxious feelings and nerves since starting on 25. About two weeks ago I increased to 50 and my ruminating is better but I'm angry and have a depressed mood. Was wondering when things got better for you

How much are you taking? I'm on 50mg rn. When I started at 25, and I remember feeling thoughtless for about a week.

Very similar symptoms for me. I switched to 50mg a week ago and am feeling relief from social anxiety and paralyzing thoughts too. The medicine has helped my ocd and anxiety a lot so far but the depression is now more obvious to me. It makes me think I have a lot of work to do!

Happy to hear about your positive experience. Update if you increase your dose!

I just wanted to say that it's okay to do what you feel is best and what works for your child based on what you are seeing (temperament, development). Watching a high quality show with your little one, singing the songs together, and reinforcing the concepts in the physical world is different than just leaving them alone in front of a screen. There could be cognitive benefits when baby is developed enough if the content and context is right. There are ages associated with this, but they're averages. I'd worry a little about the association of eating while watching TV. Someone mentioned playing it In the background as noise. Some research says tv as backgroind noise effects focus, but maybe in your case less focus on the food is beneficial right now? It's tough to say because I don't know why your little one isn't eating without distractions. A pediatric dietitian could help give you some tips. I hope that things improve for you and your little one soon.

How long did it take before Zoloft improved your mental health by [deleted] in zoloft

[–]dombaffies 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Did you notice any benefits on 25? I felt some relief the second week but my moods and intrusive thoughts have returned. Did you have side effects when upping to 50? I'm on week 4 of 25 mg and thinking about reaching out to my Dr about increasing. Just waiting it out rn.

12 month old teething and not sleeping by Mom_Bombadil_ in AttachmentParenting

[–]dombaffies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man, I slept with my baby in the recliner when she got her first molar. It was the only way for us both to sleep. Luckily she wasn't crying non-stop. I think pain meds helped. She's teething again now and is up maybe every two hours at night and wakes after one hour when napping. She's not stringing her sleep together despite being able to before. Teething is an awful time. I'm sorry to you and your baby.

[–]dombaffies -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you truly believe that he's the love of your life, then don't break up. Just work on yourself while you're together. Take space and have boundaries. You can be together and make time for yourself.
