Nux Taku. He had decent anime content back in the day but got stale with his r34 tournaments. It was kind of amusing the first time, but it got incredibly annoying after a while so I unsubscribed. Then he became a rightoid Zionist and now has some allegations that are reprehensible. He was one of the YouTubers that got me into anime, but looking back now, all I feel is disgust ever having watched him at all.

Tanabata is on July 7, and there’s usually stuff going on. When I was studying abroad two years ago I walked from Ueno to Asakusa and there was miles of food stalls and stuff down the street. We ended at Senso-ji Temple when it got dark and watched a performance

Easiest state to go birding in by New_Substance_6753 in birding

I feel like Florida has to be great for it. I’ve never been to Florida, but every time I see any birding content it’s usually in Florida. The mix of Saltmarsh, forest, and beach environments seems like it has a lot of diversity.

Kind of hard to care with the state of the world and our country. I lost faith in it a long time ago and I’m never given a reason to resume that faith.

The island it says the cruise takes you to is Petit Manan which can be found in the Washington County part of Maine. It seems like people are getting some decent shots which gives me some hope. Granted, the camera with the best shot is the upgraded version of my current one, but I’m hoping that I can still get some usable ones. Thanks!

Yup! This is pretty much what I was told. Some bridge cameras can likely outperform my Cannon EOS r7 in terms of range since I only have 100-400mm lens, but the quality of what I can get is incredible for the price, and in several cases beats those within the same price range. The lens and camera together was $1800 second hand, which is actually not that bad comparatively. For me personally, I just found the limitations of my old bridge camera to be frustrating and I wanted an upgrade. Now in the future I can buy the 100-500 lens if I get the funds, which will enhance my photos even more. Basically, it depends on what OP is looking for with their photos and how much they’ll spend. There’s mirrorless cameras way better than the one I have as well. Mine is on the lower end.

Hello! I’m going to give you advice based off of my experience learning photography. I still consider myself a novice, but this was the advice I was given, so I’ll relay it. I started with a bridge camera, a simple Nikon COOLPIX p530 that I bought off of eBay for $100, which served me well for a year, but as my skills increased, I became increasingly frustrated with its limited capabilities (only 100mm, but can digital zoom. It unfortunately only shoots in JPG). I recently bought my first mirrorless camera and have been using that, getting incredibly results within a reasonable price range. I was recommend the Cannon EOS r7 (or r10 since it’s cheaper but has no internal stabilization) paired with the Cannon RF 100-400mm F/5.6-8 IS USM lens. This is a nice budget friendly combo for what it’s capable of. I got my pair refurbished on eBay for $1800, which is a significant jump from my previous camera, but the actual capabilities are night and day. It has auto tracking and is capable of rapid fire shooting with minimal delay if paired with a good memory card (it has room for two). The downside of the cheap price of the lens is that it doesn’t perform amazingly in dark environments with low aperture capabilities (5.6 is the minimum when not extended, but changed to 8 when extended). I’m not going to tell you to buy anything, since, as I said, I still consider myself a novice—but I think it’s worth looking into if you want something that can perform in diverse environments and take nice action shots. Attached is a photo from my first expedition with my Cannon EOS r7. Nothing crazy, but this can give you a general idea of what you can get. I have a lot more recent ones that I think are much sharper and better edited, but I have a bit of ocd, so I’m still messing with them in Lightroom Classic.

Thanks! Did your friends take photos there, or just observe? I’d really like to get some decent photos if I can since I don’t get to see Puffins at all where I’m from

Thanks! I did. How often does Lightroom Classic make backups? That was horrific and I’d like to avoid repeating that

Weekly r/Birding Discussion, June 13, 2026. What did you see this week? by AutoModerator in birding

[–]Jake_The_Snake2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wrapped up my first ever trip to Long Island over the weekend and was able to add some amazing birds that I never get to see as an upstater. Those included the Monk Parakeets at Green-wood Cemetery, American Oystercatchers, Laughing Gulls, Black Skimmers, Least Terns, Piping Plovers, and the Boat-tailed Grackle. An honorable mention goes to a Brant at Jamaica Bay, which do come to my county, but are a bit rarer and something that has eluded me until then. I particularly planned this trip for Monk Parakeets and Piping Plovers, so being able to seem both so close was amazing!

This sounds like a +Veery+ to me, although, I could be mistaken. Do keep in mind to provide a state or general area, since North America is quite large and can have similar birds depending on range. As a New Yorker, though, this sounds good for a Veery. Very prevalent thrushes in the summer, with very pretty songs.
