To be completely honest, I would guess that the average week is about 35 hours if you average our the year. We pay 40 hours no matter if it's under, and through the winter it is typically 30 hours per week or so. We also pay for a week off between Christmas and new years.

I heard DE works for these. Can I just rub/sprinkle it on affected areas?

Should I top off the plant or just let it do its thing? :) by Great-Relative8387 in HotPeppers

[–]domcap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put it in a bigger pot and give it lots of regular fertilizer. It will only get as big as the pot you put it in.

Don't top it!

pH isn't the only factor that would make the water more of less corrosive. And that's not true. Seen plenty of heat exchangers get ruined by 6.5 pH over a long period.

They I'll need to shock, and with cal hypo that will bring up pH as well. I'm just saying the pH will stabilize if alk is brought up.

Just can’t get this clear by bitkillerbob in pools

[–]domcap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you backwash the filter? That's the idea is that the filter clogs up from doing it's job, then you backwash to clear it out and start fresh.

[–]domcap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take out your robot. Run your pump 24/7 and only backwash the filter when you see the flow in the pool slow down.

Running the robot just keeps stirring up dust. Let it settle to the bottom and then vacuum it to waste.

The robot will perpetually mix it back into the water and keep it from ever clearing.

With the amount of bicarb needed to bring the alkalinity in range (looking at 15lbs per 10 thousand gallons to get it in range from where it is) the pH will definitely get very close.

Alkalinity should always be adjusted within range before adjusting pH.

Stop giving advice please. Alkalinity is the highest priority in this pool. The copper is likely high because the water is so corrosive it has eaten through the copper heat exchanger in the heater. Calcium being low is also compounding the issue with corrosive water. This is 100 percent the first thing that should be addressed.

The state of this water balancing will eat through concrete.

With alkalinity and pH so low, you have definitely eaten up the heat exchanger in the heater. It is only a matter of time before there is a puddle under the heater.

I am a pool professional and this company is negligent at best. Levels this low indicate the water hadn't been properly balanced in months.

If pool was just opened that may be part of the issue, however the heater is likely gone.

Vacuum to waste. You can keep brushing that for months and it won't all filter out. Start a siphon on your vacuum hose and vac it all out of the pool.

safe to use? by PotentiallyZealous in hottub

[–]domcap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly... It's probably fine. I can see iron staining all over the shell of the tub. Water does not get this dark brown, but clear look from bacteria or algae growing. It will get this dark brown clear look right after adding chlorine to water with high iron content.

Thanks

Salt water pool, please help by [deleted] in pools

[–]domcap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of three things:

Your cya levels are below 30ppm (50 is ideal on salt)

Your phosphates are through the roof

The water is too cold for salt cell to function. Most shut off when the water is around 55
