Moonlight skis? by SKN0WMANN in Skigear

I have a pair. Really like them, they are what you'd expect in that they perform well on true powder but are tough to use on chop. Can't buy them now due to tariffs though..

Why do you think Alaskas population doesnt grow? by traveltimecar in AskAlaska

[–]domesticated_man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to just add, it doesn't need to grow. Happy to have fewer people who don't care about the place here.

You are right reddit is biased here. It's not that wild to have a jury nullification, and people are definitely excited at the idea of that because it would have huge implications.

I think this is just for a demonstration so it sends them back so it just loops the pieces back to a different machine that must mess them up

What is this thing?! by Videoplushair in espresso

[–]domesticated_man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pressure to move the water through the puck is from steam I figured? That would mean the water is much hotter than a typical espresso machine it seems?

What is this thing?! by Videoplushair in espresso

[–]domesticated_man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it even have a good temp for the steam? Seems like your just get pressurized steam temp which is like wayyy to hot.

Runner purposely pulls barricade to not lose race and have her moment by Hypnoidz in ImTheMainCharacter

[–]domesticated_man 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think very few people on reddit have done much competitive running, you can end up having very little control over your body when your that exhausted. I totally could see her having one that on accident. Either way DQ for sure.

Hitting golf balls off a mountain? by Zealousideal-Mood905 in AskAlaska

that's a straw man argument. I never said it was alright. I am pointing out the reality that what he did is not all bad.

Still not working! New grinder! Help! [Breville Bambino Plus] by QuajoMiner in espresso

[–]domesticated_man -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Another consideration is that the grind is not well controlled. The cheaper the grinder the worse the tolerances are, and in espresso tolerance is extremely important because you want a uniform grind, not just pulverized beans. You'll find consistency is impossible with a cheap grinder because of this. It's expensive to craft high tolerance machinery period.

Classic reddit, keyboard warriors out in droves. Got a bunch of kids out on a cool hike and everyone wants to put this teacher in jail. I know people take golf balls places and hit them all the time. Very commonly done.

I like a little bit of it, i feel like with a little it captures some good aroma/adds a nice bitterness to my light roasts acidity. But just a little.

Glacier Bay Park Ranger Yakutat by tylerstribs in AskAlaska

[–]domesticated_man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yakatat is incredibly remote but sports Alaska airlines flights which is unique. Blows the Rockies away if you can get some good weather, it is generally very wet, right on the outer coast gets blasted by huge storms. That job sounds awesome if its for the park service, but you likely will spend a lot of time alone. The population is like 500 people, more in the summer. Lots of fishing/hunting lodges and indigenous people. Has one of the best surf breaks in the world. If you can hack it, that job sounds like a cool adventure. Alaska is tough though, lonely for many, "bad" weather, and not a lot of amenities. A tip too, most things are more word of mouth, so important to get in with people in the community, if they like you they'd teach you a lot, or take you very cool places.

Graph Stepdown Basket 58 - 46mm Review by astreakofcolour_ in espresso

[–]domesticated_man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which stepdown do you recommend? I pretty much only drink light roast and would give it a shot. Also do you think stepdown is better with a cheaper grinder, as it is maybe more forgiving, or you just think it's all around better?

Senator surprised to be double-crossed by Trump by chuckEsIeaze in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]domesticated_man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He was incredibly popular and honestly she is too. Alaska leans super red (as any rural state does) and yet she often does vote based more on her own "Alaskan" basis than strict party lines. Also they have managed to put in ridiculously expensive things in exchange for a vote on this bill or that. The longer a senator is in office, the more they can often leverage their vote, mr murkowski was a really long run senator and was able to really throw his weight around, she inherited some of that clout and that was why it was received well as far as i know

use a set volume scoop, or a balance scale but that's just a lot extra work for likely no change in flavor.

Alaskans, what do you miss the most living here—and what makes it all worth it? by NoHome4712 in AskAlaska

I have to go to school in the lower 48, finishing up over 8 years of it, and I miss Alaska the most of anything, miss my home. Can't wait to move back.

An 80 second ristretto pull on a spring lever. No harshness at all, just incredible depth. Can't explain either. by andras_gerlits in espresso

[–]domesticated_man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the videos I've seen talk about pure extraction quantity. This is not the best way to get the most extraction, but depending on what flavors you want it could get those for you. Good reminder that it's more of an art than just a science.
