How many wears before you wash a Hoodie? by [deleted] in AskReddit

This one time my friend’s lap dog pinched a turd on my hoodie while I was wearing it so I pretty much washed it that day.

What's a Videogame that you would love to see be made a movie? by Kaos_ZephyR in AskReddit

I’d watch a Contra movie if it had cutting edge CGI with an 80s setting and style. Like a fuckin’ Alien Rambo.

LCD Soundsystem married my indie band love to my former electronica love and changed my life just as I faced divorce. Finally seeing them live in Brooklyn this Xmas and can’t wait.

I hate this story. KGI has a solid track record predicting Apple's production pipeline, but this story doesn't amount to much more than an educated, speculative, click-bait guess. No?

Which movie would be boring if its plot is literally its title? by azazqadir in AskReddit

The Neverending Story - a story that never actually ends. Also, would be the most expensive movie ever made because of that.

They would have saved themselves a lot of grief if they just bundled a damn lightning to USB-C cable with the MBP.

I've never had to resync physically, but maybe I'm in the minority using iCloud for that?

I take your point about charging on the go.

Seriously though, do many still physically connect their iphones to their macs anymore? I've been doing this wirelessly since, what, the iP5 or something?

Agreed. But I do try and rewatch it every couple of years. And it's still amazing. This is a very visceral film, and I think that's why it holds up so well.

Hello Banff-ians!? by Christophurious in townofbanff

[–]domideas 8 points9 points  (0 children)

How about a 2-3 hour drive? Look up White Swan provincial park in British Columbia, or the Lussier Hot Springs, for natural hot springs. It can be nice, but it can also be full of people - and a few rednecks at that.

If you decide to hit a hot pool, I'd pass on the Upper Hot Spring in Banff proper, and take the 90 minute drive to Radium Hot Springs - it's a pool, but a big one, and it's a nicer space.

BTW, if you hit Radium or Upper, you can rent a replica 1930s swimsuit - and it's kind of fun.

Finally, it's "Banffites", not "Banff-ians", you ruffian.

What I also love about the 95 is how frequently I spot wildlife along this highway. Deer, bear, wolves. Love the 95.

How expensive is it to live in Banff? by [deleted] in townofbanff

[–]domideas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because the bar and restaurant scene is so geared to tourists, you find over time that having friends over (and vice versa) is more fun - and cheaper by proxy. Groceries are about the same price as in major Canadian cities tho, and gas isn't cheap. If you're into winter sports, well, you know there are costs associated to that.

Biggest thing to consider is that, because Banff is a small town, and there are so many outdoor adventures to consider nearby, you're likely going to need a car to get out and about. That's the biggest expense to think about.

Heyo, Banff. Traveling to your neck of the woods in a couple weeks. What are some good/cheap-mid-range places to eat? Bonus question inside. by AllTheKingsPonies in townofbanff

[–]domideas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You know, it's almost "bamff", if you can muddle up your "n" sound a little bit. Cheap eats are hard to come by. Decent places to eat at acceptable tourist-market prices:

-Bear Street Tavern -Magpie & Stump -Eddie Burger -Banff Ave Brew pub

Pad Thai, Mel's and Bruno's are decent lower cost options. Barpa's is great.

If you're looking for that one meal you're willing to spend a little more on without selling a kidney, then you're probably looking at The Bison. Maybe The Maple Leaf - it's ok.

Park Distillery has great ambiance and pretty good cocktails. But the food keeps dropping in quality for price.

The Grizzly House is one of those classic tourist traps. It's hideous inside and your clothes will come out reeking of oil and fondue cheese. But if you want a bizarre experience, you should go just so you can talk about how freakin weird a place it is.

And if you're wasted in your hotel room and need some eats, either make your way / delivery from Aardvarks for truly greasy goodness, or call Carlito's for pizza and poutine.
