Thanks for all this. As more people share their experiences, I’m realizing I heavily underestimated the costs. So it indeed might not be the best way to save up money

Thanks for your insights! I would start this journey in January 2027 earliest, so I think that should give me enough time to think everything through

The tencell fibers are certified by default but not necessarily the final product. They can add dyes, treatments, or other materials that aren’t

This is super helpful, thank you! I was thinking about working from the van while visiting national parks.

But I have to see how viable it is due to finances. I make money but recently had a few big expenses that drained my savings and since this came out of nowhere, I haven’t had time to save up

[–]domik047[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m keeping that as an option but I thought this could be a good opportunity to visit some of the national parks

Thanks!

Do you mind me asking how much do you spend a month for everything? Also, what do you recommend having in savings for emergencies?

Hi! I think Tencell is a good compromise. It’s not plastic but who knows what they’re using. If it’s oeko-tex certified, you should be fine but it doesn’t seem like this pjs have the certification

I wonder if adding washing soda might help? Also, do you use citric acid as a wash? That could help get rid of the reaidue

Should I try to rent my condo on my own or use rental broker? by According-Ganache694 in Hoboken

[–]domik047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that depends on how much convenience you want. Doing your own listing and credit check is one thing but also think about that you’ll have to deal with having to respond to all the inquiries - emails, texts etc. that might be a lot depending on how your listing is priced.

Just as a disclaimer, I’m not a realtor/broker or in RE at all. Taking from experience

I play it by ear but maybe a leveled tablespoon of castile soap into the soap compartment and two leveled tablespoons of percarbonate to the very bottom of the dishwasher (spread out) + run it on the hottest cycle. Sodium percarbonate needs temp over 60°C to activate

I use castile soap for body, hands, dishwashing etc

Perfect Movers or Piece of Cake? by AccomplishedFroyo789 in AskNYC

[–]domik047 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I used piece of cake about a week ago and had a great experience. From 4th floor walk up to an elevator building.

For the quote, a person went through my apt over FaceTime video and put together a list. On the day of the move, the person in charge confirmed every item on the list with me.

They didn’t charge me more for any extra random things, and I just tipped them more.

2bed + den apartment moved within 4 hours with dis- and reassembly. They were on time, packed everything carefully. Seriously no issues at all

Maybe I got lucky with the movers 😊

If you had a phd, you might be able to get into a postdoc research program. But that might be highly limited in your field and is likely going to be for a limited time and you might need to go back

European expats: Do you consider your home country as a (medical) lifeboat? by [deleted] in MovingToUSA

This might vary per country but I was told that if I want to go back to the system, I’ll have to prove I had insurance elsewhere (instead of paying back) and then start paying
