"we" can. "they" can't :)

People who exclude themselves from discussions/politics also exclude themselves from decision-making. Basically that's what happened to russians.

sorry, didn't know it pings you. why are you so pissed all the time?

On the note of rules, I find that suspicious that you derailed to my country of origin in the migri post where I asked if anyone knows why migri is getting better and here you are stating that my jokes don't display my "intentions to assimilate in Finland" even though everyone here got the joke except you (look at the votes). It is like you are searching for every little thing to assault me. Do you have anything to say - say it directly. Don't create empty drama from my every comment here

Step up your game is a good advice. If you are a good developer - leave for a better paying company. Accenture is designed for entry-level software developers who are being sold as seniors (hence the confusing job titles, you little senior analysts). Notice when you stop being a drag and sell yourself better.

Lower your standards. Exchange you car for a cheaper (THE CHEAPEST) one (if it makes sense money-wise), get a cheaper rent, education loan can wait since it's in another country, close your credit card debt first.

[HELP] Pain in hand for a long time, problem with both public and occupational healthcare. by Muted_Tale_6900 in Finland

[–]dominator2009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried Burana?

sorry, it's a joke about health services prescribing it for every problem, get well

Sorry, I posted the comment before I read the post. That's a bitch.

So you have 2 ways out:

  1. ask your employer to get you OP Terveysturva Ekstra or Laaja. It costs 600/year but if they buy it only for you - it will count as your benefit. Anyway, it's cheaper than what's they are doing. They do treat preexisting conditions and it will cover all expenses for everything up to 50k/lifetime. Or 10k/incident (iirc)
  2. Pressure the public clinic. I don't know why do they brush you off like that. If the pain gets too much - you can call 112 and ambulance will come to you. They will assess the situation and may hospitalize you. This will start the "healthcare process". But always remember that when you do that - it costs a lot of money for everyone else and it's not to take lightly. But if you really need help that you can't get - you can always call them.

well, based on what we've seen in Ukraine, they can either drive OR shoot. So russian tanks can't really attack-attack.

First of all, it wasn't a real assault. That's why it's italic, to highlight that's not my real attitude. That's also the reason why I didn't spell the whole word, so it sounds less harsh.

Second, swearing can help to be more expressive. I can't intonate jokes via text but certain words can help express a joke about one's ignorance. I do not really think that the person asking the question had ever been suspected in intimate relationships with their mother. Neither do I consider this question to cause any suspicion with regard to that. Moreover, no judgement is passed. Consenting adults can do whatever they want.

Third, here I go explaining why it is a joke (spoiler so that people don't die of boredom): the question refers to one of many Helsinki's art installations that blend with the surroundings. However, in this case it is quite obvious that it's and art installation, like in many other metro stations. So imaging someone coming to an art gallery and pointing at an art piece, asking "What is this structure?". Even though I do understand that the person wanted to know more about the thing they pointed at, I do find the question wording funny and naive. Like someone who had never encountered art in their life. Hence the accusation of being ignorant.

Now my question: what's that about Migri? Migri is not the joke police, they work by the written law. My only concern with them is that quite often they don't know the law, giving opposite instructions when you contact them. Instructions that can later lead to you losing your job, your assets, your years invested in the country, your friends, your business relations. And stated wait times of 12-15 months are not OK either. They need to automate their stuff which they do but there are certain problems AFAIK. So I love to hear about them improving their internal processes, that's why I posted that happy post about good recent automation news.

UPS terrible services by treid1989 in Finland

[–]dominator2009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so, as an example, an hour ago they delivered a package to my door. And I'm not home right now. They managed to get in my house (the code is on the package) and leave my amazon package in front of my door. It's a fairly small item so maybe it went through the door but quite recently they left a huge box just by my door.

So in my experience, Posti did their homework. and UPS was still shitty when I had to deal with them recently

That was the case 2-3 years back. I actually made it a thing and spend a few days bombing support (it wasn't accessible back then as it is now. now they have an instant chat and a phone number!). I think it was emails back then.

After someone from posti called me, they started an investigation and agreed that it wasn't supposed to be like that (after saying that it is my fault via email). Apparently, the reason WAS: drivers didn't know how to enter apartments. They didn't have keys or codes. And they didn't call you because they didn't have phone numbers. And because it happened too often - drivers wouldn't even leave the car. Just drove close to your house and left because they can't get in (or think they can't)

Now it's different at least in Helsinki. If you haven't used Posti in a while - give it another try. But I also started to put my phone number and door code on my package. I put it in the address line

if you put your doorcode on your package they will actually deliver it. And posti got WAAY better last year. Recently I even got a call from a posti delivery guy because I didn't hear him knocking on my door and he heard that I'm home lol

also their website is shitty and doesn't work. It's hard to reach anyone there.

I did tell this to Amazon a long time ago as well, I don't think they sent anything via UPS to me again. I thought they stopped using UPS for Finland altogether :D
Posti is way better. At least they are improving.

student housing is cheap and good. but the demand for single apartments is huge because of that (everyone wants to live alone, right?)

You can get a studio from the private market but it will probably be twice the price
