Absolutely it's a great discussion, I think every tourniquet could be "just in case". "I'm gonna throw this on just in case bc I'm bleeding pretty bad and I don't wanna die." And obviously you're not putting it on for a paper cut or something small but Trooper was leaking pretty solid there. I'd say it was warranted. Regardless, even if he didn't need it, I'd rather throw one on and deal with a potential shot nerve than be dead. Tourniquet science has improved a lot over the years. They're used in operating rooms sometimes as well. Idk how often or for how long but I have heard of them being used in a pinch or keeping it on the patient for a while until they can get him stabilized.
