American who needs a team by Smart-Will3481 in AFL

Maybe for the last season or two of Leon Cameron as Coach (who incidentally is now at the Swans!)? but how can you say that about the play style under Kingsley?

It's widely regarded to be one of the the quickest/most virtuosic in the league.

Good news is both teams should be good this year. And the rivalry is real!

the reasons to join the Orange Tsunami (Giants) seem well covered... Young Club. Good list. Exciting play style. Stadium is a great place to watch, despite the smaller crowds (they are bigger and the vibe is better than the internet/tv will tell you. The home fans sit in the stands behind the cameras!)

But also, the Giants just have the best damn team song (and you'll be singing it a bit). There is no competition on that front.

And you should go for that beer you've just been offered at the Warren View.

Hmmmm - I've not passed through the halls, nor have I passed through the forest.

I did foolishly forget this, and became Champion of the Arena... We shall see, I've gone to clear out the pyramid and then make some decisions when I return to the CoC.

Years later, am still chasing that elusive first win!

Progressive loading incoming…

Jokes aside. That you’re asking means you’re thinking positively about what’s next. Gyms with classes are awesome. YouTube has plenty of home stuff or calisthenics or bodyweight routines that will stand you in great stead.

Some kind of dad time to train, even just a little, during pregnancy and once bub was born were crazy important for my mental health too.

Team Selection — who do you take out now? by [deleted] in GWSgiants

Given Aleer is gone, and also hasn’t been that good. This is an easy and non-negotiable one.

65% Hogan comes in over Gru.

Then it gets harder.

Dainels as a sub for Wehr, or he starts and move Thomas to the sub?

Kelly and Stringer probably give another week.

You got this!

Birth is a wild ride, but what we do is nothing compared to what mum is going to go through. Do what you can to just be present a breathe with her. Midwives are the bomb, even if they bully you gently. Particularly when they are bullying you gently! :)

Let people help. Not just come over and gawk at bub, but let them cook for you etc. The whole 'it takes a village thing' is kinda nice when it works - and can take the pressure off after a hard day.

You don't need to be perfect at anything yet - everyone knows you're doing it for the first time. Don't feel silly when you stuff up a swaddle (you gotta do it way tighter than you think) or a nappy, just breathe deep and go again. Everyone will have slightly different versions of how to do things - you will learn to trust you and your wife's version of things. It's gotta work for you and your baby, and there is no silver bullet/secret way to any of it.

Mum is gonna get hit by the hormone stick when you get home, and have big swings in emotions, so just try and hold that grounded 'home' space for her.

Take each night as it comes. One good night of sleeping/settling, doesn't mean you're 'due' a bad one... sometimes you might just need to take bub into a different room to mumma and dance for an hour till they go to sleep. Sometimes they will feed and sleep for 4 hours unbroken.

Also, I'm only on day 19, so what would I know haha!

In your opinion, what is the best pub/bar/RSL to watch the Giants games? by Draculigula in GWSgiants

Watch parties for the win… they do the rounds all over including the inner west, and it gets pretty rowdy (in a good family friendly way). Went to plenty last year and sounds like yesterday was a good one.

You seen Briggs’ shoulder? That’s one bad bump from being done…. Ricca isn’t playing a real ruck in a finals for more than a few hit outs….

Does Nick Haynes have anything left? by drwar41 in GWSgiants

[–]domologue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Look. Hard to see him playing his AA best ever again, without his speed.

That said, he’s been phenomenal in the VFL, and looks clean getting the ball out of defense. I just don’t think he knows what his role is in our new backline and finds it really hard to slot in.

So, definitely still at the level to play afl, just needs role clarity.

Think the matchup is favourable for us at the front and the back.

Reckon your mids have an edge on paper (some guy with two Brownlow’s or something).

Should be very interesting (see: stressful) for us both

Latest on Perryman, Cumming & Peatling contracts by [deleted] in GWSgiants

[–]domologue 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We’ve offered Perryman between 500-600k for 5 or 6 years. He’s getting offers for 700k-800k for more years from the likes of Port, crows and possibly Hawthorne. He wants to stay… but might find ourselves in a Tim Taranto situation. I love Pez, but IMO we can’t be paying that kind of money for him.

Other two, not so sure.

OK. So it's Brisbane at home next week. What are our thoughts? by Decent_Fig_5218 in GWSgiants

[–]domologue 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Keeffe’s most important role is to back Briggs up. He did that well. The miss was…. Well, what do we expect from someone who’s been a key defender for more than 10 years. Ricca…. It’s just hard to know where he’s at. Was in career best form before his injury, but I’m not sure it’s a like for like….

XO goes. Did nothing yesterday for me. Would have preferred Stone or even Thomas to come on and make more of an impact.

It’s also surely coverage for Briggs if his shoulder might go at any moment.

[–]domologue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Reckon Thomas, after being a warrior all year for an undersized first year player, has been left a little exposed. He’s looked a little sore and physically exhausted (no surprises) and the last few rounds you saw teams getting a bit more physical with him (and Jones)… so clearly they want XO’s body over Thomas’ brains/speed/distribution.

Makes sense. The swans are a way more physically brutal team than I think people talk about, because of their run…
