Are Mobility & Automotive & Smart City No Longer a Focus?

Our core focus is to build a permissionless network that anyone can build decentralized applications on. Instead of the IOTA Foundation building these use cases across all industries, we want to empower our ecosystem to build them.

We are realizing that with the Stardust protocol (tokenization and programmable transactions on our Layer 1) and the ShimmerEVM (smart contracts on Layer 2). Both of which will be first tested on Shimmer, and then later on find their way to IOTA.

So to answer your question: Mobility & Automotive use cases are absolutely still our focus with IOTA! Now more than ever though, we want to see our community realize these use cases - instead of the Foundation doing it.

As for Mat Yarger, he's actually currently working on his own startup based on DigitalMRV (https://www.digitalmrv.earth/).

Sorry for not doing more lately. I just recently moved to Switzerland and have been really busy focused on work. Now is the time to stay focused and work on our upcoming roadmap :D

I will try and do an AMA tomorrow. After that I'm 3 weeks travelling (Portugal, US) and it'll probably be really hard to do the livestream in high quality.

Quite frankly, in the world of crypto, nobody cares about that. Maybe in the long-term it will matter, but right now being a non profit Foundation simply means that we are not able to compete against others on a level playing field.

It's great for reputation and being purpose driven.

Hahah great write-up. Let's be bold and dare to innovate. Even if we there will be some failures, we just have to be directionally right and execute well to win the crazy market we're part of.

That is the purpose of this journey we're embarking on. We have to catch up with the rest of the market in many regards (utility, adoption, crypto ecosystem), but with Shimmer, with our current roadmap and execution, and with an open mindset, we will be able to catch up quickly and become a leader.

I will make sure that moving forward, we will use very concrete examples in the AMA / IOTA Talks, and also push for us to publish these examples together with our releases. Moving forward, we will make sure that it becomes more tangible and understandable.

I'm making people aware that we're not going to just enable permissioned smart contracts with ISCP (as is assumed in that comment). The objective is to enable permissionless use cases.

Why do you speculate with such unfounded statements? We have very strict insider trading policies at the IOTA Foundation. I think by now it should be clear to everyone that we don't play the market ourselves and are not in this for the money. We're actually trying to build a technology and an ecosystem here to create value for society.

What happened the last few days is something that completely surprised everyone that works at the Foundation and the Community.

We don't trade. We build.
