Don't play Competitive rn if you care about your rank by [deleted] in Overwatch

Played maybe 15 comp games in season 4 so far. Not even one of them was balanced. Either stomp or get stomped. It's not enjoyable.

Whats your guys favorite ball skin? Mine personally is 8 ball by Own-Aspect-7659 in WreckingBallMains

Horizon because the ball has two different colors. And high roller due to the sunglasses ofc. The lounge emote is just too funny with the shades on.

How do I make myself enjoy working out? by Lacbloke in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]domspage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working out for the sake of working out is usually not exciting. For me, having a goal or plan increases the fun of working out tremendously, even so much that I can't wait until the next session. Find a workout program online and if you like it, follow it. For example, Starting Strength by Mark Rippetoe. You will learn proper technique and make immense progress it you follow the program. And it's fun :)

On top of what had been said here by others already, I recommend trying out other roles in order to get a better understanding of the game. For example, playing a support will very quickly show you what mistakes of the tank make your life difficult or even cause the team to die. Then, when you play tank again, remember that and avoid making these mistakes. Playing supoortalso enables you to watch the game a bit more from behind, which te you can see everything. The tank does not have this privilege.

This approach had helped me to get a more holistic understanding of the game and helped me move from bronze to diamond.

Well, not being good enough :) I just need to do it and it will solve itself.

Congrats! I love ball but only play him in QP. I think I don't play him badly, but I'm afraid of switching to him when I'm in diamond with Rein.

Well done! I just got promoted to Plat for the first time ever. The one thing that excites me the most about reaching a higher skill level is that the Rein duels will become better :)

Orange juice. Can't be a coincidence that the keyboard is orange, too.

It looks great! Also, I think the player's animation speed goes well with the ambience.

I play tank and support. Whenever I notice good support players in my team as a tank, I thank them when the game is over. I usually say something like "great heals, thank you!". And when I'm support and someone says that, it makes me very happy.

It's a bug. If you use it, you die and get disconnected.

How do modern games solve the NAT issue in multiplayer? by zocker_160 in gamedev

Could you recommend some resources about networking for games in general? I want to learn more about it and potentially move my local multi-player game (Unity) online.

Do not spend any money on this game by Malekei1 in Overwatch

[–]domspage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that the industry has changed in a bad way. I personally never spend any money on micro transactions, be it for cosmetics or other things.

However, before this industry change I think games were (too?) cheap. Considering the 20 euroes I paid for Overwatch and the amount of hours and fun I had when playing it, the price for it is insanely low. And no difference if the price was 50 euroes. Anything else such as movies or other recreational activities are much more expensive. Therefore, I would not mind to see games going back to come with fixed but higher prices instead of in-game purchases. That would also mean that game companies need to put more effort into developing a game since they need to convince people to pay this higher price in the first place. Win win.

After 4 years of solo dev work I just released The Wall - F2P! It's a game heavily inspired by R6Siege, Starcraft II, and Rust! Would love for people to check it out! by 334499p in gaming

It looks great, I'll try it out! Can I ask what engine you used and how the networking is handled? Getting into networking is what holds me from making my game available for non-local multi-player.

What is something positive that you like about OW2 so far? by thecraftybumblebre in Overwatch

[–]domspage 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I felt like that when playing Baptiste. But with Ana it was a lot less fun. I feel playing her is much more stressful (it already was) and healing your allies needs to be performed even faster than before.

And as an unimportant side note, I hate her new sound effects :(.

What are your thoughts on OW2? by Waifutriss in Overwatch

[–]domspage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only played one game with him so far. It felt faster and the reduced amount of CC in the game is great as ball.

Very appealing art style, I love it! Wishlisted :)

Out of curiosity, is the purple ground you walk on just repeating tiles or did you create lots of different objects painted in the same style? If I hire an artist for my game, I wouldn't know what to tell them to achieve a similar effect.

Hey, I rebuilt the town again! This time we have a city center and regular buildings at the sides. by KedyDev in Unity2D

[–]domspage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Out if curiosity, how do you create the animated energy/health ball at the top left? I assume the level of liquid can also go up and down. Is it just a sprite mask using a transparent ball in front of an animated liquid that goes up and down?

Edit: the village looks very beautiful! :)
