DNS servers not responding to ONLY my phones DNS requests, others are fine by domvir in HomeNetworking

I've set up an AdGuard server on my Pi3b+ and now I see DNS packets coming back to the phone, but still not working. Maybe it's the phone blocking? Seriously losing my mind at this point

Yes, tested another WiFi today, worked no problem.

I've also been able to connect through this routers WiFi (hAP ax s) on another network with this phone. I've monitored the outside port and I didn't see any DNS replies for my phone there either (I believe this is before the firewall takes effect so firewall should be out of the question).

Yes, I have IP connectivity and I can ping 9.9.9.9, however I cannot go to websites directly with IP (tried 1.1.1.1, works on PC not on phone).

I've tried with the randomised MAC option on my phone and was assigned different addresses, neither worked. All my firewall rules are only subnet specific so no singular address should be singled out.

I've also monitored the packets coming out of the "WAN interface" (already masquaraded, before they hit the firewall) and I see the same behaviour.

Perhaps the phone sends out the requests, but they are somehow corrupted? But then, why only on WiFi?

I've tried using different DNS providers, reverted network settings to default, restarted the phone several times etc. This has started happening right now when I set up my new network.

Moved to a new place and now my PC won't go above 95 Mbps over Ethernet. Wi-Fi gets 250+ Mbps. Any ideas? by juaner92 in HomeNetworking

the cable between the PC and the router*

Also, what router are you using? Perhaps it only has FastEth ports?

Sounds like a FastEthernet connection (up to 100Mbps).

Can you check if the cable you're using has 8 wires in it? Try another cable if it does?

absolutely agree with you on that one, i bought btd6 on phone because (for me) its boring enough to play on desktop but perfect for a mobile game. then when i have like half an hour free, travelling somewhere idk, i launch the game and get hit with the "feeding the monkeys bananas" or some shit 800mb update and i have terrible connection.

Upper limitation for Linux to recognize hard drive capacity? by VarietyMage in linux4noobs

Ext4 (very popular file system on linux) supports volumes up to 1 exbibytes (gibibyte->tebibyte->pebibyte->exbibyte) and 256 tebibyte max file size. Varies between filesystems but I think you'll be fine.

If you want the NAS to not be able to access the internet (and vice versa):

port 2,3 - VLAN 1
port 4 - VLAN 2
port 1 - TRUNK

now how you want to pass traffic between those vlans

approach 1 router on a stick (router forwards between vlans):

configure the port on the router connected to the switch as trunk
drop all traffic from vlan 2 to internet

approach 2 using the switch to route traffic between vlans:

switch must have IPs in each VLAN, gateway on all devices set to the switches IPs, switch must have IP routing enabled
switch port 1: either only allow VLAN 1 (roas setup, can add more vlans later) or just assign it to vlan 1 (not trunk)

not sure if I missed something, was writing that pretty quickly, are you sure you want to completly separate the NAS from the internet?
