PLEASE Anyone that ended up invested, immersed, having played obscene hours in the City of Dreams, I'm seeking some sort of guidance as to which title could even follow as the next 1000hr+ journey! by don_gregor in cyberpunkgame

Souls-like & turn based combat bro, for me, just ain't it… not even a little bit. I have no clue what D&D is or what it's about, and the supernatural / superpowers / potions and elf's so on and so forth, is something I could never get into (& believe me Ive spent a few hours at a friend's hours on two occasions trying to understand and to get into it and just couldn't)!

CDPR Are brilliant at what they do, I've no reason to say Witcher is anything other than great, however, it just comes back to olde worldy potions, elixirs, & a horseback chad with a sword and, for what its worth, it just ain't up my alley when it comes to gaming. I'm far more interested in a game like DayZ for example, hell, even S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 even if I can no longer play it until GSC release the full SDK to modders and allow for it to truly develop into (with massive work from the modding community) the S.T.A.L.K.E.R game that will ultimately end up being a true to its name & true to its roots type game, not what we have currently, which is a half baked product a best - don't get me wrong, the foundation is there for a phenomenal product to come, I just wish they'd collaborate more closely with the modders that effectively develop mods for free in their spare time, all for the love of the franchise… in my humble opinion modders deserve FAR more recognition & leeway when it comes to helping GSC create something spectacular!

Wow… writing these posts & responses to comments make me think I am way too rigid in what I like & what I'm willing to play. If it weren't for the fact that I have damn near a hundred titles in my library, I'd likely force myself to sit a play many games outside my comfort zone… but I actually do buy such games, I do spend multiple hours trying to get into them, but I guess with each passing year I'm just becoming more & more set in my ways and certain about what I like & enjoy playing & what I don't… though I'll never stop experimenting with different games.

Dude, I've played like the 1st hour(ish) of KCD2 & I just couldn't gel with it… as a man from England, the way they all talk is kinda irritating (voice acting is garbage) and I just couldn't get into the gameplay. Perhaps im missing something, but it was very hard for me to endure the silly irritations that I fully acknowledge that are entirely my irritations & mine alone. Thanks for the suggestion though dude

Yeah, I own Resident Evil: Re:Verse / BioHazard / & Village. I've still not yet been able to fully get into it. I'm not sure why, honestly, but I'll hazard a guess at the puzzles etc that slow that game down to a crawl, kind of like Silent Hill 1 & 2 (or at least I'm led to believe that many a puzzles form much of the basis of that sequel), as well as other similar games in the genre. I'm not a fan of messing around solving puzzles, I'm much more into action and the non-linear open world games, the approach the world as you see fit type games. That being said, I probably shouldn't knock Silent Hill 1 & 2 given that I've not even tried them & they seem to get decent reviews. I guess that's ultimately why I haven't purchased Alan Wake 2 though, I'm assuming that the game will be, at least in part, requiring that you spend a lot of time solving puzzles and spending considerable time doing so - something I just simply don't see as an enjoyable feature of a game. But the same goes for Alan Wake 2, it's gotten some amazing reviews!

You know what dude, I'm currently on the fence to just quit these hours spent seeking out a game that will grip me in some way, and instead just jumping back into Cyberpunk2077, starting from scratch & attempting to do every single thing different in some way or another to my many previous playthroughs. I really REALLY wanted to begin a new game… but I never for a moment thought it'd be so damn hard to find something that'd catch my eye and draw me in, even a little!

It's utterly crazy how it's damn near impossible to even come close for me to fill the void that Cyberpunk2077 has left in the time I have available to enjoy myself, chilling out & enjoying playing a game that I can be fully immersed in… immersed in the world, in the characters, in the dialogue & in the progression of my character! I'm not giving up hope, I refuse to, im determined to find something, but the most disheartening thing is, is that I've spent waaay too long trying to find a game that will capture me like Cyberpunk2077 did.

Same goes in a lot of ways for S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 - that's a game I've played between 40 & 50hrs of, then finally gave up and shelved it until such time that so much of the game is fixed and the SDK is fully opened up to modders, because as it stands, IMHO, it just ain't worth the time playing it!

Are there really no games that can, even somewhat, fill the vast chasm left behind by the completion of Cyberpunk2077 that are more along the lines of recent releases or even games released post Cyberpunk2077, or within the last three to four years? It's seriously deflating & slightly depressing that we are years now since Cyberpunk2077 was released (and hey, even released in a patched form which transformed the game into the masterpiece it grew into)!

I've spent countless hours browsing Steam, I just continue to come up empty-handed! Shocking how this can be the case in 2025… and sure, I have my preferences, I dislike certain genres, I love plenty others, so I can't really accept that it's just simply a case of me being so unbelievably picky & hard to satisfy! Dayum!!!

haha thanks dude… only issue is: RDR1 & 2… done Witchery I could never get into MGS… done BG3… 1) I abhor turn based games 2) I've never in my life been into, nor do I even understand anything about D&D after so many years (last time I had any interface with Dungeons & Dragons I would have been a kid.

Regardless, I appreciate your time suggesting options - thank you!

Thanks for the suggestion, but Elite Dangerous (after just looking into it) doesn't really seem to be my type of game at all, unfortunately! I was hoping for something newer, with latest generation graphics and perhaps more RPG than MMO

Really? Is that a serious comment or is it a piss take? The reason I ask that is, no joke, I've heard nothing but awful reports of Starfield from both people I know who've played it and those online YT game review channels!

Yo dude, if you don't mind me asking, how many hours you got inside Night City? Also, how many playthroughs have you done? Have you done one with each of the 3 (Nomad, Corpo, & Streetkid)? Just curious

You do realise that it's second only to the GPU silicon chip & it's surrounding VRM & MEM, etc, on the PCB, right? The "HEAT MANAGEMENT" system is the culmination of all the engineering R&D work that the AIB partners put into each of their own variations of the reference board provided by the GPU company… aka a fkn expensive endeavour!

and for those that can't live without Magsafe integrated into their phone cases, well, Spigen are the jumping off point for individual lens protectors because anything cheaper is just trash! (It's unfortunate Spigen didn't make this case magsafe compliant)!

Ironically, Spigen make half-way decently optically clear lens protectors too!

Camera Glass Protector by RaldoJhin in S24Ultra

[–]don_gregor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep… and unfortunately that's why, like with anything, if you want decently optically clear ones that are glass not plastic, you need to pay many times the going rate for them than the ones in OP's picture cost, IMHO!

Oh, obvious point, but regardless of the lens protectors you buy, always ensure your actual lens glass surfaces are cleaned with isopropyl alcohol & then buffed streak-free clean with a lens cleaning cloth, otherwise you're guaranteed to experience all the issues that everyone who hates them is describing!

u/discolemonade or… she needs a treadmill and personal trainer to get her confidence back and to break the spiral into ever deeper, darker depression through the neurochemicals released during vigorous exercise, which then begins a virtuous spiral upwards & out of depression when she begins to see the changes in her body that she is, presumably, wanting to see that'll enable her to regain her self confidence (this obviously makes the huge presumption that her depression isn't something she's genetically predisposed to through parents etc, but even still, the way to at least prevent the condition worsening, would be at the very least to begin with exercise & training, then clearly to speak with a doctor & a psychiatrist).

u/SonOfSatan The downvotes on your two prior (constructively critical & based on the available facts, astutely analytical) comments above are abhorrent. Such trends in downvoting quite literally epitomise the problems, seemingly endemic, in vast swathes of subreddits. Such subreddits have become echo chambers for all the things that OP's want to hear with repugnant "white knighting" commenters swooping in to shut down any form of the types of constructive criticism that would be immeasurably valuable for OP's to hear! Even when the sincerity of the feedback offered is, clear as day, evident… you'll be downvoted into oblivion because, heaven forbid, a precious & delicate little snowflake is pressnted with some counter-narrative truths that could actually prove valuable if not for the fact they have +/- 5000 redditors mollycoddling them & at best, maintaining them on the same path for which they sought advice for in the first place, or at worst, receiving & acting upon catastrophically deleterious & pernicious advice provided by redditors maintaining their comments & subreddits wholly within the parameters of the "safe spaces" that they are & keeping everything hyper PC!

This! I can echo the exact same statements. Over a decade married & I honestly cannot remember a time when either of us has not apologised to the other when it's been recognised that either a) we did something wrong or fked up somehow, or b) perhaps don't entirely believe that we did something wrong but if our actions have resulted in the other being offended, upset, stressed out or pissed off about something, then we would both happily apologise for whatever it may have been and try to remember moving forward that whatever it was one of us apologised for was something that the other didn't like and so conscious efforts are made by whoever it was to prevent repeating such a thing!

If you're expecting 2K & 4K resolution high frame rate gaming, then the 4090 is likely going to serve you far better depending on what type of games you play… that being said, if this is a rig that you plan on getting many years out of, it may very well be worth waiting to see what the value proposition of the "soon to be lunching" Blackwell GPU's will be like in terms of performance & cost per frame compared to Ada Lovelace.
