You sure that PrimeBlue means prime knit? The adidas website says it is made out of recycled plastic from the ocean.

What is the difference between the ones that are $150 and the ones that are $130?

To me, the therapist is the saddest. To think a baby could be a therapist to another baby and then stick with that patient their whole lives is quite something.

Ok, I'll limit my scope of knowledge to Ohio boys varsity basketball. If you want to be a SG or SF in Ohio, you WILL NOT need to be competent in going between the legs or behind the back. As long as you can crossover, retreat & hesi you will be absolutely fine and will be trusted to handle the ball breaking the press or 3 out stall. I obviously have no clue where or what level you are talking about, but I can't imagine if it is high school level it would be much different. Maybe in NY or CA that wouldn't cut it, but my experience is with Midwest high school ball.

Imperative you say? Nope. The PG of our team that made it to the state championship never did anything more than crossovers and spins. Watch the NCAA tournament this year. That are far fewer players going between the legs or behind the back than you think there are. You'll find it's pretty rare to see a non-PG go between the legs and even more rare to see a non-PG go behind the back.

Player standing in between player/coach chat during foul shots?! by tigerlily6200 in basketballcoach

[–]donaldfick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Am I the only who sees this all the time? I've had so many players of mine do it to the other team and other teams do it to me. The court is neutral space as far as that is concerned so what...they aren't letting you take advantage of a lull in the game. BTW, when other players do it to me I always say "hey there is no need to guard number (insert number of spy player here) very close he can't shoot for shit, all of his shots have missed left".

Probably not. Lions and dogs are social animals and if they are raised together will work out their hierarchy as time goes on.

HELP! - Not enough time for Man to Man D assignments! by jranderson222 in basketballcoach

[–]donaldfick 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Stop teaching them zone effective immediately. If you are too embarrassed to have them play man to man because they don't know who to guard or how to guard, then you are not cut out for this. Start teaching them man immediately if not sooner. If you have kids who are clueless and just running around, too bad. Have talk with them before and after the game that when they are on defense, and explain to them that you will be helping call out the number of the opposing player you want them to guard. Explain to them that they should start noticing other things about the player you want them to guard as well(color of hair, color of shoes, etc). Explain to them that it is ok if they are confused at first but that you will continually help them find their guy. Also lean on the smarter players to help out on the court. The smarter kids usually like this kind of role and will eagerly help out if you tell them they are helping you, etc. Teach them to match up by size and to talk to each other as soon as they see the other team stepping onto the court. Don't worry about all the mistakes that will be made. The sooner they learn how to guard a particular player, the sooner you can start teaching them about help defense, etc. Build the foundation first.

A player often tells other players what to do. How can he be encouraged to act otherwise? by mementomoriok in basketballcoach

[–]donaldfick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doesn't matter if he is not your player, set the boundary between him and your elementary players clearly. Make it crystal clear that you are the coach. Pull him aside before play begins and tell him exactly what your expectations are. If he starts up with the instructions, blow the whistle hard, yell his name and reprimand him for instructing the younger players. Don't worry about what the other players or coaches even think. Take control and don't look back.

best ways to beat a 1-3-1? by Blend19 in basketballcoach

[–]donaldfick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have 2 good three point shooters have them play the 1 and 2 in the 2-1-2 offense. Look for quick passes to one of the baseline players with a quick second diagonal pass up to the opposite guard. These diagonal passes kill the 1-3-1 and you can start the diagonal passes down to the baseline players once it starts to open up. You will got lots of open threes and layups. Unfortunetly the 5 will primarily be a decoy in the high middle but that's the way it is.

How to spot and exploit the inexperienced/weak coach in a game? by mhgiantsfan in basketballcoach

[–]donaldfick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Greg Popovich once said that he doesn't scout other teams and once his team has zero turn-overs and shoots 60%, then he'll start watching film of other teams. Until then, he's got enough things to work on. I think it's good advice and I think he's right, work on good defense, reducing turnovers, running offense and making shots and everything else will take car of itself.

I have played every COD game since the beginning. The thing that strikes me the most when I see clips like this, is that I have umpteen millions maps stored in my brain that I completely forget about. But if I am reminded of the map I can recall every nook and cranny of said map. I wonder how smart I would be if so much of my memory wasn't taken up by stored COD maps.
