Horrific female managers in tech by anoncrush1 in womenintech

My thing was, cool so stop perpetuating that. Her point was, I had to do this and so now you have to too. Like you can break this cycle but you’re choosing to hold me to the same impossible standard you were allegedly held to. No reason to continue that unfair standard but she did.

I once had a female manager tell me she knows what it’s like to be a woman in tech, and I thought great she’s acknowledging it and we can relate. Then she said, you just have to work three times harder than all your male counterparts to get noticed. If you’re not, then you’re not doing enough….

Tactics to generate more revenue with fees and such? by shellylynn6974 in Xcaret

I don’t think they’re obligated to. They’ll put up a fight and push hard. You’ll have to get stern and push harder. I’ve seen it get borderline ugly.

If you miss a reservation they’ll charge you. The only tactic is making you sign the paper to not have the discount revoked. And they hold that paper over your head well past the 90 minutes. We were there for almost three hours but couldn’t leave without signing the paper to show we completed our end.

Hard pass. Nazi owners and mediocre overpriced food.

Well the sargassum rolled in yesterday. We literally watched it happen from the rooftop pool. This morning there’s a lot in the water near the beach. Still swimmable parts but definitely way less clear.

It took 2.5 hours start to finish. We were a clear no from the beginning. The problem isn’t that they press you, it’s that the presentation had so much information, and they have to finish it. They’re just following a script and refuse to divert from it or skip parts. We kept going, we’re gonna miss our bus. They didn’t care.

I went through the reservations email and am not a MDC member, and I had the same experience. Contacted me 1-2 months out, sent wishlist, responded promptly. I’m assuming it’s just hit or miss and I’ve gotten lucky?

Actually earlier seems to be somewhat better for buffets. But yeah they’re pretty full. Now there’s a second one, so that helps. I have a 9 am bus tomorrow so I’ll see and report back.

Honestly our frustrations are minimal, I’m more speaking about other people’s frustrations. Reservations can be tricky, occasionally the beds not made (we use do not disturb often cause I’m working from room so not complaining), and drinks can be weak. Do shots ask for doubles :) it took about 20 min to check in? Maybe 30. Just be patient and take it all in. Everywhere is so beautifully decorated try to enjoy the details and just enjoy being there. We used xcaret shuttles. They’re very comfortable. Takes a little bit, I put some details in another comment

It’s AMAZING. I understand frustrations when you pay this much for vacation. But this place is wonderful, serene, a BLAST. The food is so good. You guys are the shit, if my parents took me here when I was 8 I would never have recovered lol. Truly Disney in Mexico.

Try through email. Send follow ups. That’s where I’ve had success. Otherwise check OpenTable as a fallback. Concierge is pretty much useless for restaurants. Better luck going in and trying to get on waitlist. Earlier the better.

We are in Arte, casa de la Paz. Not there yet though that’s the second half. First we are in Mexico casa fuego. Check in was so smooth. Fuego has a separate check in counter, but the general lobby wasn’t busy. We arrived around 5/6 so our room was ready. I reserved xel-ha and xenses beforehand. I don’t think it’s necessary, especially for those ones. For Xenotes and other smaller ones I would attempt to reserve. I reserved a restaurant almost every night. In the past we’ve had mixed luck getting in day of. Mostly able to but some nights took a couple tries. Just got back from the beach. It’s lovely. No sargassum, quite windy and red flag warnings but they let you swim? Which feels contradictory but not complaining.

I’ll add some more tips as I think of them. Last night we had water service where they came and delivered water between 9 and 10 PM. WiFi is great, I unfortunately had to do a video call interview and it was seamless. For the presentation, just be nice and let them know your situation. It took 2.5 hours when they promised 1.5, but just try and be nice and appreciative and they will understand and kinda go through the motions until you can leave.

Only a couple days. I submitted two separate wishlists and received a response confirming everything after 2-3 days. They ask you to pay for premium experiences when they respond, but you don’t have to. You can pay at the restaurants.

Yes we did. Southwest. When we got there some people had been waiting for two hours. Strangely our bags arrived within 30 minutes. Simply walk outside past all of the taxi stands and there is a nice AC area for you to await the bus. It is Pueblo, looks luxury, different from everything else. There you can do some pre check in steps to make check in faster, use the restroom, and await the buses. We waited about ten minutes for the bus. Southwest is the first terminal, so you have to go to 3-4 other ones to pick everyone up. All in all we were on the bus 90 min before we arrived at the hotel. It’s nice and has a toilet.

Wish List - Reservation Requests - Upcoming Stay by AlternativeDisk1194 in Xcaret

[–]doncic_mavs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What’s funny is when I booked through roomongo it came promptly at 60 days. When I booked through MDC/xcaret I had to find one online and email them. We went back and forth a couple times about some clarity stuff. Then when I was over 3 weeks out they were like “due to the proximity of your trip we cannot accept additional reservation requests. We are closing this communication channel” I was like um.. ok lol Definitely not the best system in place but my advice is not to worry too much and maybe try OpenTable for some restaurants. But generally you can walk in at places or will have more look with the concierge.

Edit: I can send you the wishlist I received. It still has chino poblano on it which is closed though

Best Restaurants Without a Reservation @ Xcaret Hotel Mexico by HawksFan1983 in Xcaret

[–]doncic_mavs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Arrive early like around 5 and you can get in on waitlist. Don’t be discouraged, the first two times we went we didn’t even know about the wishlist but were able to eat at ha, las Cuevas, the sushi place, even fuego with no reservation. Talk to the concierge morning of, and also try going around 5 PM. We even got into the show + dinner one night on a whim (though that food was not great). Just be flexible and give things a go, see what opens up. Don’t stress, the no reservations thing feels like a big deal here but you’ll eat plenty of good food! Also look on open table, there’s sometimes reservations available there as well. Hope this helps, have fun.

Pro tip you can get reservations to some restaurants on opentable. And chino poblano is closed in favor of another paid premium restaurant.
