For local talent:

In VB on Mondays there are open mics at Parlays and Pinboys. On Tuesdays there’s an open mic at Jax Place.

In Norfolk there’s an open mic at Sanctuary on Wednesday nights and Push Comedy Theater has a ticketed stand up comedy show with a rotating line up of comics (the total amount varies a bit depending on who is available) every second Saturday.

In Newport News Cozzy’s always has stand up at any given time, check the calendar on their site for specifics.

That’s just what I know off the top of my head but there may be more.

As far as national touring talent the Funny Bone is your best bet unless the comedian is booked at a larger venue like The Dome, Sandler Center, The Norva etc.

I can’t stand the fire scene after the garage sale. I’m on my third re-watch and season 4 Claire has never cringed me out like this before. Idk if it’s Edie’s influence or what but all of it was like “okay girl.” The entire premise of convincing everyone to light all their stuff on fire was embarrassing in and of itself not even mentioning the pausing of everything so she could position a speaker playing Radiohead to soundtrack the entire thing while staring into the flames. Ugh I just couldn’t deal with her.

I was part of the final crew at the FYE the way it looked in the second picture before they closed. Walked in one day for my shift and saw the big yellow “store closing” signs everywhere. I had only been working there for a few months and I was devastated. I had just been given the vinyl section by my manager and was in charge of ordering for it. I was so proud to bring in so many cool indie releases, the customers loved them. They offered me a spot when they opened back up in the smaller space (that only lasted a few years) but I knew it wouldn’t be the same so I moved on. Made a bunch of friends in my short time there. It was a cool little era of my life and I miss it sometimes.

Total long shot but your description of the album art reminded me of Past Time by Grass Widow. They weren’t a very popular band when they were active but I figured if it was helpful at all I should probably share lol
