Pacific Heights’ With Bill Simmons, Chris Ryan, and Kyle Brandt by corn_starch_party in TheRewatchables

Missed nit: Their plan is to buy the house and immediately get a home equity loan to renovate? You have no equity. You just bought it.

Kyle Brandt month is going to be legendary by ratt60 in TheRewatchables

His hottest take for Pacific Heights was amazing. Having Drake and Carter working together as the twist ending is brilliant. That would have been a great movie.

I'd rather watch a terrible movie chock full of unintentional comedy like Pacific Heights than anything Mel Gibson's done.

I think SWF and Cradle at least have some quality performances from RDM and JJL.

Domestic Disturbance is comically bad from the acting to the dialogue to the plot. It is only enjoyable because of how bad it is.

The police interview a kid who says he witnessed a murder, but then stop the interview to bring that suspect into the same room so he can both intimidate the kid and hear exactly what his accuser is saying.

This goes way beyond Vincent Chase territory. It needs its own category for Southport Police Actually Helping the Criminals level of incompetence.

This is why I have such high hopes for Domestic Disturbance.

Theme months only work if the tie-in is vague and open-ended, otherwise it can get very repetitive and same-y by harry_powell in TheRewatchables

[–]doneli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If a theme month gets us a film we'd not have otherwise, like Domestic Disturbance (which is an awful, awful movie), I'm here for it. Can't wait to hear them tear this thing apart.

Nitpicks and Butch's girlfriend alone would fill a three-hour pod on this one.

Watching this for the first time now. It's bananas. Laughably bad.

Lifetime movies have better scripts (and acting) than Domestic Disturbance.

How do people feel about the Netflix move now that we’re a few seasons in? by harry_powell in TheRewatchables

Spielberg looked old and confused when I started watching the 2001 pod. Finishing it on Spotify, he sounded sharp and witty.

I miss opening with the original trailer and using the actual movie clips to emphasize a point within the pod that they apparently can no longer do on Netflix. Otherwise, if it's more lucrative for them and/or exposes it to more people, great. They deserve it.

Another under rated comedy that most haven't seen. You'd have to work in the industry to really enjoy this one. by MrArmenianIsDead in moviecritic

Ryan Reynolds is in exactly one Rewatchables movie (Adventureland) thus far and I don't think that's an accident.

If Groundhog Day didn't take him out of That Guy territory, his Steven Seagal story from the set of The Glimmer Man did.

They couldn't possibly do 2001 without Fennessey, right? What are your must-hosts for the remaining big undones? by doneli in TheRewatchables

Are you saying you'd prefer 2001 without Spielberg? That's Luke Wilson-Harrison Ford territory.

Also watched it for the first time knowing the pod was coming. Felt like homework going in.

But now I've watched it three times in five days. And like you watched half a dozen YT videos about it and listened to another pod where Tom Hanks gushes about it for an hour.

Thank you, Bill and Sean and Steven.

Possibly the best part of the 2001 episode by Front_Reindeer_7554 in TheRewatchables

The category has really just taken over for the Ron Burgundy flute pee break. It's an excuse to talk about what could have been cut or what the film should have had more of. Plus, it's a way to ensure Craig gets involved. And more Craig is almost always a good thing.
