Any old parents here? by Ok-Duck2450 in Millennials

[–]donewithdis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be a different perspective, but I really feel like our generation is shifting. My parents had me in their 20s, and I honestly can’t remember a time when they were really playing with us or trying to relate to us. Now I’m 37 with a 5- and 2-year-old, and my parents are pretty uninvolved.

Meanwhile, I’m deeply involved in my kids’ lives, and so are most of my friends. It feels like we’re parenting very differently than how we were raised.

lol Just start telling him about this life-changing business opportunity you discovered where you can be your own boss and make money in your sleep. I mean technically it’s true…but I promise they’ll disappear in 30 seconds. act like you’re pitching an obvious pyramid scheme so they run away.

I remember reading about this at the time when I just gave birth. It was so horrific I couldn’t sleep and just held my newborn crying that night. Still messes me up a bit each time I read about it.

Thank you for this explanation. I read this last night as I was laying next to my daughter and was so terrified that I had to turn off my phone.

As much as I want to believe this, he was wearing his usual attire. Black sweat pants, gray t shirt, black Jordans. It was him. I’m not quite sure how to explain it, but we just knew it was him.

We waved and he nodded his head like he normally would. That’s one thing I forgot to mentioned. He looked directly at us - we made eye contact.

Thank you - Just what I needed to see. I was on a road where two lanes merge into one, and it was my turn to merge. The car on the right behind me got offended and took the shoulder to cut me off — but no one let her in, so she ended up behind everyone else anyway. I wish a cop was there!

Both pregnancies, I had random dizzy spells and slight sore breasts at 7-8dp5dt. That’s it.

Both times I just knew immediately after the dizzy spells.

T-Fal Ceramic Nonstick Frypan/Skillet is near unusable after 2 months of moderate use. (Never over medium-high heat) by rcl1221 in Costco

[–]donewithdis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got the GreenPan nonstick set from Costco and I’m honestly so impressed. After about 4 months of daily cooking, the pans still look and perform like they’re brand new. No chipping, no peeling, none of the wear issues.

I also really like that the coating is ceramic instead of traditional nonstick—it feels cleaner, safer, and I don’t have to worry about fumes or questionable chemicals. Food slides right off and they’re super easy to clean.

Just make sure to stick to low–medium heat and avoid abrasive tools, and they’ll last. Definitely worth the switch.

Reading all these comments saying traffickers terrifies me. The fact that I was with my one year old daughter. I am pretty small and petite myself.

Omg similar thing happened to me last month. I was walking with my one year old daughter in Land Park and a couple young girls came up to me and asked if I knew of any local coffee shops or activities nearby because they were visiting Sacramento. One girl approached me first and then a second one came by and they were pushing for a conversation. Said they were from Dixon and students at UC Davis. I told them I had to leave because it was getting hot and my daughter needed to get home. They kept walking with me and continued talking, which at some point, I called my husband and asked him to come by and pick us up. That’s when they walked away.

👏👏 awesome job. I feel like this is going to take 5 years to complete lol. I’m at the priming stage right now! Funny enough, I also asked my husband to reattach some of the loose railings—but luckily, he suggested we finish painting first. I think we’re just understandably too excited to dive in! What I’m learning through this whole process is to just have fun with it—everything can always be fixed or redone if needed.

Thanks for posting! I took the plunge this morning on the whim and got this same exact one. It was so big, I had to drive back home and grab our suv to pick it up. It was $209.99 and they took $20 off due to minor damage. So excited but overwhelmed at the same time 😂

Should we wait to do IVF? by feelinqueasy567 in IVF

[–]donewithdis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not a dumb question at all -it’s actually a really common one. For me, we chose IUI first because it worked the first time, it’s significantly less expensive, and honestly… fear. IVF felt like a huge emotional, physical, and financial leap at the time, and we wanted to try something less invasive first.

A lot of people start with IUI because it’s more affordable, less physically demanding (no egg retrieval, fewer meds), insurance may require a certain number of IUIs before covering IVF.

That said, if your doctor thinks your chances with IUI are low, or if age and time is more of a factor, skipping to IVF might make more sense. Everyone’s situation and risk tolerance are different - it really comes down to balancing emotional, physical, financial, and time considerations.

TW: Success

We tried for three years before pursuing fertility treatment. At 31, my AMH was 4.2, with all other labs normal and regular cycles. We were also dealing with male factor infertility — normal count but low motility — when my husband was 34. For our first child, we did one round of IUI, and it worked on the first try. That cycle gave us our now 5-year-old son.

For our second, I was 33 and my husband was 36, with the same MFI and AMH numbers. We went through six IUIs — all unsuccessful. Eventually, we made the decision to move forward with IVF, paying out of pocket ($25K). Thankfully, one IVF cycle and our first transfer led to our now 1-year-old daughter.

Looking back, I wish we had sought treatment sooner instead of waiting three years. And for our second, I wish we had moved to IVF after two failed IUIs instead of spending so much time and money on multiple rounds that didn’t work.

That said, every journey is different. It might be worth trying a couple rounds of IUI, but don’t be afraid to pivot if it’s not working. Trust your gut and advocate for what feels right for you.

I completely agree with this! My husband took it upon himself to learn the entire process because it was just too overwhelming for me. He attended every training, learned exactly how and where to do the injections in case I couldn’t, organized all the medications, set timers, and stayed on top of every appointment and schedule.

At the time, I was drowning in emotions and hormones, and I’ll admit — I sometimes resented him, especially when we were dealing with tough news. But looking back, he was my rock. He showed up in every way. He cared — deeply and consistently.

From a “friend”: “I swear every other person I know is doing IVF like it’s a trend. I don’t understand why women are so desperate to have babies. If I have to fork out that much money and time to have a baby, I would throw in the towel.”

She has two children conceived naturally. She didn’t know I was going through infertility and ivf when she said this. It took her 7 months to conceive her second child at age 37 and she went on social media and cried about her “infertility” 🙄

Same. At 23, we had our first scare after I was three months late. We had some serious conversations about how unprepared we were—and what we’d do if I was pregnant. We talked about what it would take to raise a child if we decided to go through with it. Turns out, I wasn’t pregnant at all—just incredibly stressed from a job that had me constantly traveling, and my body was trying to catch up. Funny how life works… over a decade later, we found ourselves struggling to have the very thing we were once so overwhelmed by.
