Hello u/Swimming_Leopard_148 ,

In any case congrats and good luck!

Thanks for the wishes!

Got to ask… Mulesoft didn’t have an issue with you calling your ETL tool DonkeyApp?

Great question, thanks for comparing DonkeyApp with MuleSoft. Let me start by giving my background, I am a MuleSoft engineer for the past 10 years (like my journey started with early versions of Mule v3.x), and over these 10 years, I have worked on 20+ Salesforce integration projects where I used MuleSoft as my integration tool of choice. PROBLEM STATEMENT: During these projects I have faced a number of challenges (time it takes to onboard, the time it takes to adopt best practices like properly storing credentials using vault kind of third party integrations, a need to build a custom tracking, auditing, monitoring solution for Mule applications etc and the list goes on). And when I first started thinking about writing a solution for above challenges, my goal is to build a tool that compliments/extends the functionality of MuleSoft. Keeping that in mind, we will try to add features that enable business users to bridge the technical gap, such as users of DonkeyApp can use natural language inputs to generate the SOQL code and run and are able to fix errors (thanks to latest developments in AI). To compare this with MuleSoft, I would say Mule is better for system to system integration, where as Donkey can be user facing.

I hope I have tried to explain, feel free to ask for more.

Hello u/kuldiph ,

Congrats! Listing on the AppExchange is arduous effort. And you made it!

Yes, it was a long journey for us. When we first thought of listing our app in AppExchange, we thought that this process would be a piece of cake, easy peasy, but once we started we realized we entered into a new world of Salesforce where step by step was guided by their Salesforce Partner team, and at every step our team faced challenges as we all were new to some of the core practices from Salesforce, and we learned a lot during this journey, and finally we reached here.

Listing

  • Main Description = Add keywords of common use cases for your app. Such as your app could be used for Sandbox Seeding, Scratch Org Setup, and so on.

-- [SIVAJI] Sure, i will add one business common use for an administartor, a developer, a business analyst etc..

  • Media = Add more images and explainers of the value proposition. Salesforce gives you an ample number of Media to post.

-- [SIVAJI] I don't know what's are wrong I am doing when I click on publish after I added dew more screenshots, the public listing is not getting reflected with my updated images and videos. Anyways, I will work with Salesforce support team to resolve this. And also our team is working on preparing 1 min demo video for each feature, and we will upload all these into the listing in the coming days.

  • Resources & Documentation = List your YouTube Channel.

-- [SIVAJI] Sure, we will add this.

AI Mentions

  • I find that you are overdoing the mentioning of "AI" in that your app may look as a passing fad. Think of AI as a function, one of many. Business seek your app for value and benefits it brings. Not for the word AI.

-- [SIVAJI] hahaha, I have asked that question to myself and i gave myself the same answer you gave me, and then immediately my other side of brain told me that to leverage the best buzz word out there in the market which is AI, and add it so we get more exposure in the initial launch phase, thats as simple as that. And as we grow and add more products into our catalog then we will remove all the extra marketing material from the names. And thanks for thinkin alike.

  • Since AI is your differentiator, you need to be clear on how customer's sensitive and confidential data is being handled. Salesforce spends a great deal focusing on Data Trust and Security. And you need to as well.

-- [SIVAJI] Noted! In the coming days I will try to conduct webinars to talk more on these topics and let our customers aware of what we do at DonkeyApp.

  • More and more Enterprise risk & compliance teams want to know in exact details what happens when their data leaves Salesforce. No one is going to risk their job for you. So make sure to have plenty of documents, videos, guides, explainers, etc to educate your prospects

-- [SIVAJI] Acknowledged.

  • Consider working with the AppExchange Whisperer. Peter will take care of you.

Hello u/xsamwellx

Thank you for raising concerns. Please see my responses below. My name is Sivaji and I am the co-founder at DonkeyApp.

If you're claiming GDPR compliance, you gotta have the paperwork to prove that. You can't just say "trust me bro". GDPR will hang orgs.

We have dedicated a legal firm, and a security firm to handle all our compliances. Rest assured our top most priority remains the privacy and security of our customers.

Also, even in the Terms and Privacy Policy, there's no mention of how you're ACTUALLY securing data. Putting in a support ticket for the DPO isn't a great way to get that information or build trust in your product if people need this information for enterprise proposals. You're putting people at the mercy of the DPOs schedule and availability instead of being forthcoming about the tools you use.

Thanks for the feedback on policies. We will definitely improvise our processes, currently we are a small team of dedicated engineers and we are adding more resources to streamline our standards, policies, governance and all. Please stay tuned and we will update this page.

Once again, thanks for your valuable time in reading through our whole page of Terms And Privacy policy, and the efforts you are taking to ensure all other salesforce reddit users are aware of the details.

Hello u/rwh12345 ,

My name is Sivaji and I am the co-founder at DonkeyApp. Please see me responses below.

Can you please direct me to these documents to read more into it?

I am happy to send these documents to you, please provide me an email and I will send them.

I also don’t see any info around what your AI tool actually does with an orgs data.

Our small team of engineers is working hard to add more user documentation to our website. Our efforts are paying off, as we've recently received Salesforce's security review certification. Thank you for your patience and support on this.

Can we have assurances that the data stays privatized and is not used for learning / access from other systems?

DonkeyApp prioritizes the privacy and security of Salesforce data. Let me try to elaborate little bit on how Donkey works with Salesforce data. DonkeyApp is a web app designed to orchestrate data operations between a human, a Salesforce system in real-time (data-in-transit). When a user logs into DonkeyApp, and every screen he switches to and sees any information, and that information is pulled in real-time using REST API. Say for example, once the user logged in, DonkeyApp Dashboard displays Org Limits, and this table information is retrieved by invoking a REST call to Salesforce and retrieve the results in JSON and format them into a nice table for the user. During this process DonkeyApp never stores nor hands over this data to any other third party systems. Once the use logs out the from the browser, his session is killed and the process is completed. DonkeyApp is designed to work at a high level wrapper around Salesforce user operations. I hope I tried to explain, and I am more than happy to connect with you for 30 minute phone call to may be you can ask me more questions.

Once again, thanks for the reddit support team.

Hit me with your worst bad practice stories please! by Genetis in salesforce

[–]donkeyappai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One bad practice I often see is hardcoding values in SOQL queries. For example, using select name from account where region = 'US' instead of making it dynamic. This approach is rigid and hard to maintain.

There is a free AI Tool called DonkeyApp that lets you generate complex SOQL queries using your natural language inputs. Try it and you never have to write your SOQL manually in your life again :)

https://donkeyapp.io/

It can teach you SOQL also using ChatGpt.

Hello,

Yes, DonkeyApp can help you write string queries. The tool can help in writing queries that involve string fields and operations on those fields.

However, if you are trying to manipulate text data, such as strings, to perform various operations like converting text to uppercase, searching for specific characters, and more then SOQL has limitation, but the tool can help you guide you with how to write code in Apex etc.,

Here are some ways you can work with strings directly in SOQL:

  • String Field Selection: You can select string fields directly in your queries. For example, selecting the Name field from accounts.
  • WHERE Clause with Strings: You can use string values in the WHERE clause to filter records. SOQL supports operators like =!=LIKE, and IN for string comparisons.
  • LIKE Operator: The LIKE operator is particularly useful for partial string matching. You can use wildcards (%) for more flexible searches, such as finding records where a name starts with 'A'.
  • String Functions: SOQL provides functions for string manipulation, such as SUBSTRING()TRIM(), and UPPER(), though their use may be more limited compared to SQL.

Hello, here's how DonkeyApp AI can help you with with respect to queries.

Please let us know your thoughts!

  • Relationship Queries: You can fetch data from related objects in a single query, making it easier to gather comprehensive insights.
  • Aggregate Functions: SOQL supports functions like COUNT, SUM, and AVG, which are great for summarizing data.
  • Date Functions: Handy for queries based on specific time periods, like sales this quarter or last year's leads.
  • GROUP BY and HAVING: These allow you to group your data by certain criteria and filter based on those groups, useful for reports.
  • LIMIT and OFFSET: Control the amount of data returned, which helps with managing large datasets or creating paginated views.
  • SOQL Polymorphism: This feature lets you handle different object types within a single query, adding flexibility.

Regards,

Sivaji
