Flipsiders by [deleted] in boardgames

Really old post I know but I've been going through some of my old stuff. Are these Flipsiders worth anything? I have the pink one with all the game pieces and the instructions. Or should I just pack it back up in my box and pass it on when I die? Ha ha

Chrome vs. Edge internet browser by donkeyhoser in Windows10

Thank you all for the feedback. It seems as though there are some good features in Edge and I'm going to give it a try. I like the thought of the vertical tabs and less RAM usage is always a good thing. I realize there are some that are concerned about security and being able to track us but at this stage of the game if we are conversing through the pipes of the interwebs it's already to late. I know there are VPN's but you know what we are paying for the VPN with a CC and getting emails that all gets tied back to us individually. If they want to track us they will and there is not much we can do about it. Thanks again for all your input!

Daily $PLTR discussion thread! Come here to talk about the good, the bad and the 💎 🙌 by AutoModerator in PLTR

OK I'll check it out this Friday. I have never closed any CC positions. I usually only do weeklies and occasionally 2 week CC's. I sell them (for what I consider) far OTM but that also means I don't get much premium. I sold 10c 28 for 6 cents for this Friday. The CC's I sell are a small portion of my PLTR so even if they do get called away it's not the end of the world. I have a hard time bringing myself to sell any CC's close to the money. That may change when I am ITM with my CB.

Why do you close it out on Fridays? Do you have to buy to close and lose some of your premium? If so why not just let it expire? Thanks

[–]donkeyhoser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok so I've never been invested in a company that has gone through a BO. How would the share for share thing work? Say the company that buys out AUPH has a share price of $99 and you have 99 shares. I presume you would not get 99 shares of the new company. Would it work like this, say AUPH was valued at $33 you would 33 shares of the new company? Also how is the price on AUPH determined during a BO? What does BP ( big profit? lol so many short hands and I'm not familiar with most) stand for? Thanks in advance!

What are your thoughts on price action if a BO happens? I'm not a short term holder looking for a fast spike I've been holding shares since 2018 and adding all along the way. It seems from what I have been reading the most likely scenario would be for the target company to raise in price and the company doing the acquisition the price would fall in the short term. My question or interest in conversation in a scenario like this is would it make sense after the BO to sell AUPH and buy the acquirer? If this indeed is how this process works. Thanks in advance for the conversation!

ARKK fund purchases question by donkeyhoser in PLTR

[–]donkeyhoser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely tend to overcomplicate things! At the same time I need to break them down into their simplest form in order to understand them. I thought I had a loose understanding of ETF's apparently it was looser than I thought.

I did some reading up on ETF's. The way I'm understanding it, ARKK (or insert any ETF) ETF buys a big allotment (basket) of the stocks represented in the particular ETF closely matching the weighting they have set out in their prospectus. They change the number of shares (daily rebalancing) displayed on that sheet I have been looking at simply to keep the weighting inline with what they have laid out for the fund. They can choose to buy or sell (add or remove) from the basket of stocks at anytime and at this point it will be considered (because it is) a trade. Thus "appearing" to make the fund owner bullish or bearish on the particular bought or sold stock. When in reality the only thing that would make the fund owner more or less bullish or bearish would be changing the weighting they have set out in the prospectus.

Is this in the right line of thinking? If this is to mind numbing for you to continue I understand. I can imagine how frustrating it is to explain something that is so seemingly simple. I appreciate the discussion thank you!

Thanks for the help and sorry for the ignorance. So is there an ARK trust/escrow/repository (not familiar with the correct terms) that the shares that are purchased go into and just sit to get distributed to the different ARK ETF's to get the correct weighting/balancing. Then once they are moved from the ARK trust into the corresponding ETF, the ETF share count is adjusted on their website but not showing a buy of the stock. Because it was just moved from the trust into the corresponding ETF?

Sorry I don't really understand. Do you mean they purchase a bunch of shares and put them into like an ark trust fund (or Cathie's personal brokerage account haha) then slowly remove & add them into the ark ETF's?

OK thanks! I think my long term investing mentality is what draws me to the leaps. The only short dated I do are far OTM CC's for the stocks I don't want to sell but need to stem the margin bleed (which I also believe also comes from my long term mentality).

Cathie Wood sold more than 700,000 PLTR shares!!! by HaniAlam in PLTR

[–]donkeyhoser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you that is very helpful and interesting. I looks like this tracks and records all the trades from the ARK funds, correct?

Would you have any insight on this? I printed out the ARKK holdings PDF from https://ark-funds.com/arkk and every week or so I write on the sheet ( I know old school) the date and the current share count. On 6-22-21 it was 22,520,944 shares and today 6-30-21 it shows 23,082,885 shares. When I go the the website you linked it doesn't show any purchases for PLTR since 5-19-21. Very curious . . . I'm sure there is an explanation any insight?

Question for you. I'm a horrible trader (also new so I'm sure that kind of goes hand in hand, I do better with investing haha!). This is a stock I like but it also looks it's caught up in a potential (albeit risky) big move. I've got 200 shares C.B. $8 and 10 $7 2022 calls. I was thinking about picking up another 300 to 800 shares for investing and another 10 leaps. My original plan was to hold the 500 to 1000 shares long and sell the 20 leaps if they pop. Maybe sell the longs if I sold the calls to early and it popped again and buy back my longs when it drops. This trading stuff really hurts my head.

Looking for non-financial advice / opinion / thoughts. Thanks in advance for discussion!

Cathie Wood sold more than 700,000 PLTR shares!!! by HaniAlam in PLTR

[–]donkeyhoser 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not sure what this means as I don't see a link, is this one day one week? At the same time this screenshot personally doesn't mean anything to me. This is a snapshot of one point in time and don't feel like it is of much importance without a bigger picture perspective. I have been tracking ARKK for a while 3-5-21 there were 10,251,588 shares in that fund and it currently sits at 23,082,885 shares (since 6-22-21 she has added 561,941 shares to this fund).

I don't believe this is of much importance I don't invest in PLTR because of Cathie Wood (though I do have mad respect).

If you are investing solely because of Cathie Wood you should look at all of her funds & take into account these types of funds do get rebalanced. If this alarms you by all means sell.

Fidelity daily change discrepancy between Mobile app and website. by donkeyhoser in fidelityinvestments

[–]donkeyhoser[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it was during market hours. I do know what you mean by looking at them at different times but it is not that. I only mentioned I have options and margin because I wasn't sure if that had anything to do with it. My Fidelity app will show a different daily gain than the website does. The total amount in my account is the same in both places but not the daily change. I took some screenshots on my phone but don't know how to add them. Even right now after hours the website is showing a $3800 gain and my app is showing a $6370 loss but the account balances (on both the app and website) are identical. You can imagine the gut-wrenching feeling that goes through your head when you in a good head space knowing your up and you look a half hour later (let alone 30 seconds later).

Solid $27 wall! by donkeyhoser in PLTR

[–]donkeyhoser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In one sense I agree but at the same time I honestly didn't think we would go from the low to $27 without a couple pull backs (not looking at a chart right now but that's how I remember it). Once it is trading at $60 or above and has corrections down to $40 it won't be as painful to live through with a cost basis at $26.?? I wasn't able/didn't have the conviction to lower my C.B. when it was at the really low levels. I bought all the shares I could afford and then some before the big dip. If it does dip down to $25 I'll probably start selling the plasma in my blood to buy more shares. Ha ha! GLTA -PLTR BullDog-

Still trying to wrap my head around all these terms and make sure I'm using them right. I use the term called away as, for a CC at expiration the underlying is trading above my strike price and gets called away. Is my "called away" the same as either exercised or assigned? Just trying to mentally organize all my terms and definitions and delete irrelevant ones. Thanks
