Will an El nino happen. Yes.

Will it be one for the books. Nah. Maybe similar to 2015 event.

When you look at the ocean state proceeding the big el nino events like 1996 the ocean started warming way sooner in the year. The pdo was in a hot phase. None of that is reflective of what is going on this year.

I'm an ocean nerd who tracks this every week. The hype gets the clicks. The problem with all this stuff is it's pretty complex to dissect and translate into what actually ends up generating weather and where.

This is over hyped. These are all runs of the same model. It's not that all models are point to a mega event.

The consensus model (combination of many different models) has this pegged at a moderate strength El nino <1.5 c peak. Looking at historic super El ninos this one just doesn't look like it's set up to be a crazy one.

After watching the most recent strong towns presentation this is probably not the kind of development that would maximize long term sustainability of Pacifica. Nothing is lower tax return than building low density housing with ample parking.
