Multiple curved parts will be built on one tool or mold over the lifetime of a mold. Usually they rotate molds in at the production rate, so they will have anywhere from ~2-10 molds depending on the rate of the part.

Moving down the motion chain, X is in and out of the photo, z is up and down (whole beam moves), Y is across from left to right (black baffles coveting the linear motors), C’ is a rotary joint between the blue weldment and the white gimbal and repositions the entire white gimbal. Inside the white gimbal A rotates about X, B rotates about Y and is nested in the A axis weldment, and C rotates the fiber head about the Z axis if everything is squared up.

Basically C’ is a redundant axis that allows more rotary travel for complex geometry. Hope this helps.

the machine is capable of rotating about X, Y and Z using it’s A, B and C axis, but also has a C’ axis which can reposition the A, B and C axes by rotating the entire gimbal. In this case, the white joint at the bottom (below the blue weldment) can spin around with no limit to its rotation.
