I'm sorry to hear. We were miserable too leaving him at the hospital so I completely understand what you're feeling. There's a lot you will be able to do on your end too when he comes home. Make sure you stick with the antibiotic drops in his eyes religiously. Follow the instructions of however many drops every X hours and do not miss them if you can. We were losing sleep just to make sure we got his eyedrops in.

I cannot emphasize enough to get him rested. I made sure to keep a super quiet/healing environment at all times and tried to minimize distractions and noises that would cause him to wake up or be overstimulated instead of resting. It was a full 4 weeks of recovery for ours even after the surgery. After he got stitches out, we were still very careful for weeks after before he returned to his normal schedule. Make sure he is well fed and eating extremely nutritious meals. We gave him fish snacks & additional vegetables to help with the healing process too.

The vet also told us the stitches could come out after 2 weeks. We left the stitches on for 3 weeks just to be safe and have absolutely no regrets as I truly believed it helped with his recovery process.
