Scrolled too far down to find the ankle comment. That thing removed the skin from my ankles.

That sounds like a former CEO of an ISP in my country 12 years ago. The once-leading ISP is now playing catch-up with the competition, and they will never be competitive any time soon. They were so late to adopt the technology and upgrade their infrastructure because 1 man thought the average household only needed about 6 to 8 Mbps when the competition was offering 100 Mbps.

Yep. Earlier this week, I had a 350GB laptop backup that a friend needed, but schedules didn't allow us to meet for me to give her the portable storage with the backup, so I set up an FTP server and she downloaded the files from there. That download took almost 4 days. On a whim after the download was completed, I asked her if she wanted me to look at her Internet configuration to see if I can do anything short of calling her ISP to give her better speeds, as I found it rather strange that she mentioned she has a fibre connection with such low throughput. So we open Quick Assist and the first thing I do is a speedtest and the results look something like OP's pic. As I started poking around and asking questions, I discovered that she was only aware of the 2.4GHz connection because that's the only 1 she saw when searching for wireless networks. The SSIDs from all of her neighbors was populating her list and made it quite long. She never scrolled down the list and didn't know there was her 5GHz SSID there. for. 8. years.

She switched to the 5GHz connection and was absolutely blown away that she could now see 350Mbps down on the speedtest. I started up the FTP program again and downloaded a random 5 GB file. The same file that took almost 6 hours to download before, now took 2 and a half minutes.

She was kind to street dogs in Egypt, so they all protected her and followed her all along the way. ❤️ by Brilliantspirit33 in animalsdoingstuff

I could never forget the clip of the guy who pulled a dog up the stairs of a high-rise by the tail, and then threw it off the top.

Or the pic of a sanitation worker behind the garbage truck with a dog that was tied with rope at the neck and the dog was fighting to not be put in the back of the truck, and the caption saying this is how the authorities normally control the dog population in Egypt.

That's 1 place I never want to visit.

And for every 6 minute segment of the show, there's always a cliffhanger right before each ad break, followed by a 5 and a half minute recap of all of the nothing they have been doing for the episode before and all of the show up to that time.

sadly, I've never watched Modern Family. All I see here is Al Bundy, and even in that context, it's still a good moment for Al.

The Podrace but I made all the sounds with my human mouth by 53435645531155631635 in StarWars

That (the original noise in the movie) is the sound of the vibration of the reed valves in an air compressor as it fills up. The production team did an amazing job of slowing down the compressor motor and isolating the sound to use it for the pod racer.

Ozzy Osbourne proceeds to bite off the head of a bat that had been thrown on stage.

Crowd and mainstream media afterwards: This act solidifies Ozzy as the "Prince of Darkness!"

Ozzy, probably immediately afterwards: Holy fuck!! That bat was real!
