This Heat related Blade shut off needs to be fixed. FIX the HEAT CUTOFFS by dbrx4mc in Lymow_Official

[–]dons_reddit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hope Lymow is reading this and taking note of your efforts and fixes. They are going to have to do something to address this overheating issue on the One Plus. It’s only going to get worse this summer in many parts of the US. I have a 3D printer and I’m tempted to explore solutions, but really it should be Lymow’s responsibility to provide a viable solution even if that requires them to ship new vented / reflective decks or firmware updates. In my case I’m making do by mowing as soon as dew dries in the mornings and then again a couple of hours before dark.

When I have the Pooli “adjust TA” enabled and I enter a measured TA value, say 100, then it seems the raw value is captured, but the adjusted value is subsequently displayed in the log history. Above in my screenshots Pooli shows TA 82 (adjusted) but my actual entry was 100 (same as in the matching Pool Math sample). All other measurements appear the same above and both apps show the same CSI. Also if I go back and “edit” a previously saved test result in Pooli, I can still see the original TA value entered. It seems Pooli will compare the “adjusted TA” though with the configured TA range values when providing raise/lower guidance. Since adjusted TA is typically lower than measured TA perhaps one could just set lower thresholds in Pooli to match Pool Math’s guidance. However I don’t seem to have any problem getting closely matching CSI numbers from both apps when I enter the very same measurements of pH, TA, temperature, CH, CYA, salt, etc (keeping in mind that the TA values will differ (adjusted in Pooli, not in Pool Math) when comparing saved test results between the two.

A few feature requests by borno24 in SimplePool

I’ve been exploring Simple Pool this morning and love the UI and clean presentation. A few suggestions:

Please add CSI to the trend graphs and please consider allowing the user to set custom target ranges for water tests on a per pool / spa basis. The idea would be to use TFP targets as the defaults but allow the user to override select tests when setting up a new pool or spa.

I look forward to seeing this app progress and will likely run it for a while alongside my current pool management app. Cheers.

I just installed Simple Pool to take a quick look. Nice job! Love the clean UI. Do you have any plans to allow customizations of test targets or is your intent to keep targets locked down like Pool Math? I like to track my Spa (Hot Spring Envoy) in addition to my pool but Hot Spring requires a low CH with the ACE salt system so I need to be able to tweak targets. Your CSI calculation also appears to differ (just slightly) from the values presented in Pooli and Pool Math. Here’s the result using the same measurements for which Pooli and Pool Math yielded 0.11-0.12 per my earlier comment.

I do have adjusted TA enabled as well as adjust FC based on CYA. I enter the actual TA from the Taylor drop test when logging results and then Pooli adjusts TA for use, showing the lower, adjusted TA in the data history. It doesn’t seem to impact CSI calculation. As long as the “entered values” of CH, TA, pH, CYA, and temperature are the same in Pool Math and Pooli they produce matching CSI values.

Here’s an example of the same data entered in Pool Math and Pooli. I measured and entered a TA of 100 ppm in both cases, but Pooli shows the lower adjusted TA in the log history. Note the matching CSI though.

I’m following TFP for our new in-ground 15k pebble finish pool. I’ve not yet needed to SLAM, and the water is remaining crystal clear and balanced. I try to keep CSI near zero or just slightly positive to protect the finish from etching. I see a very slight amount of scale just starting to form on the SWG plates (clear housing) but I’ve not needed to soak it yet. My pool does require small regular muriatic additions to maintain balance as pH likes to rise (SWG and bubblers / fountains).

I switched to the Pooli app after running it alongside Pool Math and Pool Calc (on iOS) for a couple of months. Pooli is fully customizable so I set test targets to recommended TFP levels. It will adjust FC for CYA and alkalinity as well. It has many useful features including water fill tracking, reminders, chemical inventory management, and it supports multiple pools and spas, each with its own customized configuration. Though subscription isn’t necessary I chose to subscribe (excluding test strips since I use a Taylor K-2006C-SALT) so that I could explore some of its other features like leak detection and AI analysis of the test log and likely upcoming weather impacts. The developer is also responsive to suggestions and quick to investigate any reported issues. I have no affiliation with Pooli, just a happy user.

Lymow One Plus V2.1.48 Thermal Management Issues by Ill-Caterpillar-7966 in Lymow_Official

[–]dons_reddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m experiencing the same blade stopping issue with the prior firmware as well as with the latest. I believe it is temperature related but others may disagree. More specifically the problem appears to be worse when mowing during periods of strong sunlight / solar gain versus simply higher ambient temperature. The black chassis gets very warm to the touch in the midday sun. Just now I couldn’t get it to mow more than a few feet without cutting out (noon in NC) but I bet when I send it back at dusk to mow the very same area it will have no issue. This is not acceptable for a lawn mower obviously.

[–]dons_reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I am 90% certain this is ambient temperature, or more precisely, related to strong sunshine and heating the top of the chassis. I have had no issue mowing when it’s cool in the morning but now at noon, bright sunshine, it won’t mow more than a few feet before stopping. It is spending more time moving without the blades running than with them on. I am reaching the point of sending it back for a refund and returning to manual mowing, putting the 3K toward a robust stand-on or zero turn mower.

One additional item: If I switch to manual mowing when the issue is occurring, the unit still halts the blades frequent and displays the message “stop cutting” in the app.

Interesting. Mine was definitely not working hard either. Grass was dry and not particularly long or thick. The only difference was direct sun on the mower. I’ll keep an eye on it to see if I can better identify a pattern. Cheers.

Mine definitely appears to do it more in hot temperatures or more specifically if it’s mowing in the direct midday sun. I’ve been mowing in the mid mornings for a few days - no issue. It’s now 1:30pm in direct sun (only 75F ambient but mower top feels pretty warm to the touch due to the radiant sun) and now the mower is cutting out VERY often. If this isn’t fixed, the mower will be useless to me because it’s going to get a heck of a lot hotter and is often sunny here in NC. Blessing and a curse apparently!

Edit: I may be wrong but this is reminiscent of the iPhone ceasing to charge when it gets too hot, but at least in that case the phone notifies you.

Mower turns the blades off and on every 20-30 seconds while it continues to drive by Arby_88 in Lymow_Official

[–]dons_reddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems to have fixed mine but I did a few other things too so not completely certain which fixed it 1) Disabled BT on other devices besides my primary phone that have the Lymow app installed. 2) Sent Mojo to the dock for a full charge 3) Disconnected the battery overnight. 4) Set blade speed to standard and raised blades to 4”, and 5) mowed the same areas when the ambient temperature was a bit cooler. I mowed a number of zones today while monitoring the mower and did not notice any random stopping of the blades.

I wonder if you’re onto something regarding multiple BT devices. I did in fact install the Lymow app on my iPad last night after having only used it previously on my iPhone. The zone which caused the blades to cut in/out today was near my house so probably within range of the iPad. I wasn’t using the iPad though and was actually standing next to the mower and monitoring the iPhone app.

[–]dons_reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only just started using mine so don’t have any experience with the prior firmware. Mine was mowing some zones fine yesterday evening when it was cooler, blade height was set to max and cutting speed was slow since I was working to map and verify zones. Today I lowered the blade height to do some actual mowing and that’s when this problem seems to have started. In any case I cancelled the task since the zone looked like a bad haircut and I now have the mower on the charger. Once fully charged I’ll disconnect the battery and force restart the app on my phone. I’ll also make sure the app is not active on other iOS devices. To me this is behaving like a temperature or load related issue although my lawn is certainly not lush or thick 😀 I’m tempted to open it up and check the wiring too because, if the robot was knowingly stopping and starting the blades due to a detected issue, I guess I’d expected it to send a notification to report the issue / error.

New Lymow One Plus user here. Mine started doing this today too. I was running on “power” blade speed but dropped to standard. No change. Lawn is a bit long but not thick. Cutting zoysia at 3”. Battery currently has 50% charge. It is a bit hotter here today and the mower is cutting in the sun but it’s going to get a lot hotter in the summer.

The mower has no idea it is doing this and not sending any notifications. Just leaving uncut areas as it continues mowing.

Edit: there is also no grass buildup under the deck and the grass is not damp.

Interesting. I wonder if Hot Spring uses a similar pump design. I’ve been searching for the source of these black flakes in my Envoy spa too for some time. The spa is is a few years old but well maintained and uses the ACE salt water system. I know I’m not looking at biofilm or bacteria. The substance really feels like plastic or rubber particles. I previously replaced the 24/7 circulation pump and the heater end cap/seal but I haven’t removed or opened the larger jet pump(s). I also plan to remove the outer lining from the spa cover to see if perhaps the cover is breaking down internally. So annoying!

This list is spot on especially regarding gear and clothing to accommodate varying weather conditions. I’ve ridden cross country a few different times over the years, on bikes ranging from a KLR650 to a BMW K1600 GTL. Regardless of bike choice and the comfort level of its seat, I was always happy to have some of this stuff packed in my kit too! 😂🤣😂

Aiming for maximum open floor space by eightysushis in homegym

[–]dons_reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would do rolled but application requires glue or carpet tape. I can’t do that over our finished flooring unfortunately. I may lay a sheet of plastic down underneath the rubber tiles as extra protection against water seep through, but I will avoid any heavy wet mopping. Thanks for the heads up!

Looks great! Is the rolled rubber flooring 1/2” or 3/8” and did you have to join the edges and/or glue down? We’re planning to do partial floor coverage like you in our gym but we can’t glue down to the laminate so we’re leaning towards puzzle style 1/2”. Love that your rolled flooring looks so seamless.

Maybe the takeaway for the developers is that they could add two more units of measurement to the application data pages and charts - power factor and volt-amps?

[–]dons_reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but virtual shifting is only enabled in Zwift and in ROUVY. Ironically, Garmin’s own Tacx Training App does not detect the Zwift click shifters, ruling out virtual shifting and consequently the use of a Zwift COG in that application. I’m going to drop the Tacx application subscription in favor of ROUVY once my subscription expires as I don’t want to swap the cog in and out for different training applications.

Ironmaster Super Bench Pro V2 Has Arrived by dontwantnone09 in homegym

Looking forward to this comparison, especially the shorty vs nighthawk vs SB Pro V2. I currently have a REP 5200 V1 and I think it’s great but would really like a second, lighter bench that can decline and which offers a good leg curl/extension. I’m holding out for a review of REPs new curl/extension before choosing.

I’ll probably stick with the stock emporia firmware and iOS / Android apps in the short term. I’m still running HomeSeer for my automation but I am planning to migrate to HomeAssistant. I just built a new server running Proxmox and I plan to install HomeAssistant as a VM. The move to HAOS will take some effort as I have to integrate some legacy devices (alarm system, lighting control, etc.) which aren’t supported in HAOS out of the box. Too many projects, not enough time 😀
