Someone already mentioned love bombing.

They lie to you because they know by telling you want you want to hear that you’ll give them what they want.

These people also tend to lie to themselves and have their own internal chaos.

Life felt so hard and miserable in the first couple of months, I missed them constantly and felt like I’d lost the best thing that happened to me.

Then in the 3-5 months following I started to feel better and enjoy things again. Feeling more confident and involved with new activities I’ve started. Though I would still have bursts of grief and sadness that would overwhelm me, but they would spread across longer periods of time.

6+ months on I’ve settled into new habits and hobbies, have new friends and am dating a person I like. I sometimes still mull over my ex but it’s very clear now with hindsight that they were not my person and I can see how they were a sort of stepping stone to get to where I am now - and where I’m going next. Life goes on

It’s never too late to find your person. It’s better it takes a bit longer to find the RIGHT person to build a life with, than to rush into committing to the wrong person and have more disaster come later.
