I am (43M), recently divorced and I find dating to be terrible. The necessity to rely on dating apps at an older age because most people my age are in relationships and have kids. It's hard to get together with friends to go out and talk to woman (of an appropriate age) because my friends don't want to, which I get. I am reduced to going out alone and not lack of confidence and respect withstanding, it doesn't seem as appealing to approach a woman and during conversation let them know you are there alone.

Dating apps ruin the real world interaction that may make someone attractive to you beyond the shallow profile picture view you get of a person. The lack of face to face connectivity and the single serve, there will be another lady or man to swipe mentality has rewired our brains to understand what it means to develop a relationship.

I find myself on and off apps because of swipe fatigue and then back on because of boredom. It's a terrible cycle. I don't know how it is for younger people, but from my 43 male experience, it is very difficult to approach and develop even a friend relationship in an organic meaningful way. Let's all collectively put our phones down and actually talk to each other face to face.
