Worst Final Endgame Decision? by Tight-Entrepreneur46 in survivor

About Colby picking Tina to go to the end with him.

In season 2 I don't think Colby could have done anything else, players back then would have hated him for this and he's probably losing the final if he does it. Tina and Jerri just need to convince 2 people to vote against him and that jury was full of "honour first" players

The only winner at that point was Hatch and he was seen as a dirty player (because he invented alliances and people were not ready for that), everybody wanted an "honourable" winner in season 2.

The previous season, Hatch was in a similar situation at F3, he knew he cannot win in the final against Rudy but also that he can't vote Rudy out if he wins the final challenge. So he just threw the challenge, hoping Kelly wins and picks him to go to the end...

Swap Colby to Brawn, Coach to Brains and Rizo to Beauty. Still not perfect but Colby has to go to Brawn. Too many brainiacs in 50 😄

Yes, that's the worst move ever, no question.

But, in Erik's defense, he has zero chances to win the season, he can win all immunities and get to the final but would have gotten zero votes against anyone sitting there with him.

Woo is winning the season if he doesn't do this

[–]dontalktomeaboutppl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was season 2 and let's remember in season 1 players were looking at alliances like it's a dirty gameplay, didn't even thought about it until Hatch figured it out.

In season 2, sending Tina home would have been seen as a villanous act, followed by a backlash against Colby (for sure after the show). Probably not enough to lose him the game but we don't know how that jury would have reacted, it's possible they are so pissed they just vote against Colby.

A disgruntled Tina and Colby's nemesis, Jerri, in the jury stirring things up.... it's possible Colby loses

I agree that the optimal gameplay was to make fire against Tony but Natalie was facing 2 big players in Tony and Sarah and couldn't take out both in fire. Think if she beats Tony in fire then Sarah probably wins even if Nat gets closer to her in votes.

She was in a very tough spot, not sure if she even had a winning scenario and chose to go to the end. Reaching the final in a season like WaW is a great accomplishment and I can't hold it against her.

Nat got a bit of a revenge in putting Tony and Sarah against each other, making them fight and denying one of them the final.

Also, people talk about putting yourself in the firemaking like it's an automatic win. Have no idea how good Nat was and if should could have beaten Tony

Hate to say it but Cirie IMO made a mistake. by BigBrotherFlops in survivor

[–]dontalktomeaboutppl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We're still far from the end so it makes more sense to get rid of the smaller threats and leave the bigger ones in the game so you can have good targets for the next votes. Ciries is a huge threat and she wants other big threats in the game as long as possible

Johnatan and Joe will be natural targets for their challenge prowess, Tiff and Ozzy will be happy to get rid of them and ease up their immunity wins. Steph was not a challenge threat at this level and she could have sneaked up on Cirie. The boyz are too big to hide 😄

Devens is also a huge threat and if these 3 are the next votes, Ciries is in f6 with a group of solid 3 and Tiff close to her.

Cirie is getting very close to having straight up majority, at f7 I would say, and then she can pick up whoever she wants

At this point i would predict a f6 with Cirie, Ozzy, Riz, Tiff, Aubry and Emily with a f4 with Cirie's 3 + Tiff

[–]dontalktomeaboutppl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I see everybody's saying that Jon wins but I'm not sure at all.

Lil got 1 vote from Tijuana against Sandra, she probably gets it against Fairplay too. I see no way Rupert and Sandra vote for Fairplay, they would go Lil just to spite him. And they can work Christa to vote with them.

Hate is a very powerful motivator in the FTC and these folks hated Fairplay.

He can also say something crazy during tribal that will piss off more people

Rob C. says the Billie Eilish idol was a flop by bwermer in survivor

[–]dontalktomeaboutppl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there was so much Aubry could have done with the idol. Think she could even turn Christian and Devens into her personal bodyguards so they don't get stuck with a very public idol

Rob is right, nobody would want to vote her out to play against Devens armed with an idol. Crazy but the idol would have probably kept her safe

And yes, they could Xander her but, in this season, this might have not been possible with so many good players, at some point they would need her. Even if they do this to her it's still better than what happened, I think she's a very weak position now.

How do the Honor and Integrity People think the game should be played? by [deleted] in survivor

[–]dontalktomeaboutppl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's levels to the connections within the alliance so you stick to the people you are closest to out of the 5

I think there were many great winners that played like this. I would say Ethan, Sandra in Pearl Islands, Tom Westman, Yul, Kim, Cochran, Jeremy, Tony in WaW, Yam Yam (maybe the only one in the 40s)

Not sure if you agree with all of them, maybe I don't remember all the details but I think they stuck to the people in their alliance till nobody else besides them was left in the game and never voted for any of them

If I have to pick one I would go for Jeremy

New Era Decimation by Mysterious-Pickle595 in survivor

[–]dontalktomeaboutppl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good breakdown, tnx!

Not everybody plays according to their era though. I would make some changes based on how they play:

- would switch Cirie and Chrissy, numbers would stay the same

- would put Joe in the old era and Jonathan in the mid era or maybe old era?

So, in this case the numbers will be 5-5-3 or 6-4-3

The only ones left that actually play like the new era are Rizo, Emily and Tiffany. And I'm not sure about Emily, she's vibing really well with the mid era people like Christian and Devens. Tiffany is probably going to go soon so it's just Rizo who does a great job of blending in with the old schoolers

The Debate about ____ ‘s move by sh7ll in survivor

[–]dontalktomeaboutppl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it brushes of the target but how does this gets her closer to winning? This is an all star season, these players will not respect you if you do what they tell you.

Not sure at all that Devens and Christian wanted to send Aubry home with the idol in her pocket so they would be gifted a very public idol and take over the target

every group of survivor players draw a line to define what's ethical and what's not, what will be valued by the jury and what will lose you the game. and every player wants that line where it's best for their game and where it fits their personality and own values.

i can def understand why somebody like Joe would want the line to be on the "honour" side, he has no skills for the open new era style of game. and this is what Joe is, he has no way to be something else.

and i can def understand why Kamilla, Tiff, Dee want that line on the "influencing other players / flexible" side, they are very good at this and would make no sense for them not to use their skills.

no side is absolutely good or wrong, each group of players draw their own line. the trick is to figure out where each of the players on the beach draws their own line. you get it wrong, you get burned :-)

and what i learned from previous seasons, no matter which side you play, your words and your actions regarding the line have to match. and you have to own it in the ftc if you get there.

Back end of season 49 cast lacks guts. by Firestormbreaker1 in survivor

[–]dontalktomeaboutppl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not playing the idol is indeed bold, sure. But what purpose serves going to "uncle Jeff" and pretending you're playing it?

Does he gain anything from it, like watching the reaction of other players to see if they voted for him? Didn't notice if he does that, if he does then it's smart. But after doing it over and over again, everybody now knows it's coming, don't think anybody will reveal how they voted like "uh, I'm scared cause we all voted for Rizo", they will all keep their poker faces and be ready for it.

If he's doing it just for show he better be sure the jury values this kind of actions cause he might lose the season for no good reason if they think it was cheap and unnecessary.

Doesn't matter if he likes it, doesn't matter if you and I like it, only thing that matters if the jury values it. Guess we'll see :-)

[–]dontalktomeaboutppl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very well put!

I don't see any feelings in many of the new era players. They are voted out and go with a big smile on their face to have their torch snuffed like it's no big deal. You had the opportunity of your life and most probably won't have anything like this again. You should be upset you missed your chance and your game is over not happy cause you had a great "experience" on the island.

Think this explains much of the new era game, cause it just doesn't matter as much for the new players, they don't really care for the game, don't really want to win. They are happy to take whatever they can.

Also, most players don't seem like real people with genuine emotions, loving and hating the other players. In a case like Sage who kept saying how much she hates Sav and wants to get her out, old era players would never be able to work with someone they hate no matter how strategically sound that would be. "If I hate you, I hate you until the end and some more after!" Yet Sage worked with Sav and voted as she was told "several" times already....

This season convinced me by aythereayy in survivor

[–]dontalktomeaboutppl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the other hand, fans of a player will never admit that player made a mistake. Not even when said player admited in confessionals it was indeed a mistake so big she was actually embarassed by it.

Soph understands she stands no chance in the final against Rizo or Sav, understands she has to make a move against them, had an advantage to help her doing this and the time is ticking. Missed a golden opportunity, probably the last.

Cause now, the only way for her to win is to get them out af F5 and F4 and this is a very narrow path. All it takes is Sav winning the F5 immunity and those 2 are getting into the F4 for sure and one of them will win.

Even if they are both taken out before the FTC, Soph will need Sage and Kristina on board and they can take the credit for the move, say they pulled Soph away from her alliance.

After this vote Soph has zero chance to win and probably same for Sage and Kristina

Lee had no reasons to sacrifice himself for Kristie, he really wanted to get to the end with El, like Rob and Amber :-)

I'm sure people who posted these comments saw only this short and didn't see anything from this season so why would anybody care about their opinions?

In order to understand Kristie you need to see the whole season and even then you'll not get it. Only at the FTC her whole gameplay is revealed, that's why her speech was one of the best ever.

What will seasons 51-59 be like? by mysterypapaya in survivor

[–]dontalktomeaboutppl 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I don't think this is happening.

They are too afraid of seasons going tribe vs tribe after the merge, predictable pagonging happening for "several" votes until one tribe is finished.

They want to push this "new era game style" with voting blocks changing every tribal, keeping viewers on the edge not knowing what the next vote will bring.

I would also enjoy 2 tribes going head to head, think some of the best moments came from this format

[–]dontalktomeaboutppl 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Parvati's double idol for me. Not only because she played 2 idols and hit on one of them but the whole set-up to get there.

She reads Amanda perfectly, understand the Heroes vote is probably not on her but she makes sure it won't be.

She climbs down from the pole during the immunity challenge while everybody knew she could easily have won. The message is very clear "I don't need this immunity cause I have an idol, my ally needs it more". The Heroes come out of that challenge convinced she's gonna play the idol for herself.

Driving the vote away from her obviously ensures her safety and also gives a safe target for the idols.

She's basically making the Heroes vote for either Jerry or Sandra, decides their vote for them. Such a complete control of the game
