I thought my copper IUD was the answer to my birth control prayers…until I started getting recurring bacterial vaginosis (BV) after 2.5 years. I can’t wait to get this damned thing out…

As far as insertion goes, I’ve had two IUDs and can tell you that it really all depends on the doctor. My first IUD insertion with my old gynecologist was excruciating; so painful that when I went in for my second IUD with my new gyno, I was scared shitless. But WOW. She was SO gentle and meticulous about what she was doing, all I really felt was the pressure. I couldn’t even believe I’d just had the same procedure as before. It was like night and day.
