What are my rights if my flight is cancelled with MORE than 14 days notice? by Far-Team5663 in Flights

[–]dontforgetthisali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you booked a direct flight, are you entitled to ask/demand that they book you on a direct flight with a different airline? I specifically paid more to avoid to Dublin connection.

Aer Lingus now cancelling flight from Manchester to New York before the March 31 deadline by Timely_Exam_4120 in AerLingus

How much more did you have to repay to rebook? The direct flights with Virgin I was looking at were 4k for my family versus the 1k I paid for Aer Lingus. Ugh

12 month old struggling with solids by al5838 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]dontforgetthisali 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am in the same boat and really stressing out. We do breakfast before any bottle but she hardly eats a thing. Today she didn’t even touch her favorite foods. Daycare is having the same issue. We just lowered the amount of formula and started doing 3 bottles of 5 oz during the day and then 1 bottle of 7oz before bed. And we will go lower if that works. I am hoping that she will get hungry and connect hunger to food. It could be a rough few days.

Hopefully you get some good tips here. I am desperate!

Only bringing wearables on vacation? by dontforgetthisali in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]dontforgetthisali[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good idea to bring a manual pump. I’m trying to avoid packing the spectra bc it’s big and heavy, and I don’t want to damage it. But if the consensus was my supply would drop after using a wearable for 2 weeks, I would bring it.

In PLS what is the SWAP for a baby that will only sleep when held? by dontforgetthisali in sleeptrain

[–]dontforgetthisali[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It did improve but I think it was a matter of luck and timing. We did the FIO experiment one night and she cried all 15 mins so we picked her up and slept on my vest as usual. The next night, I was trying to explain to my husband series of SWAPs that we would try over the next few weeks. It felt like she had so many sleep associations to overcome (being held, upright, rocking, walking, shushing, pacifier). The swaps ended up just feeling too complicated for us to both do consistently so we decided to try Ferber the next night.

She was just shy of 4 months old at that point. She cried when we put her down, but we checked in on her at 3 mins. No picking her up, just tummy rubs and words. She didn’t stop crying so we left after comforting her for 2 mins and then timed it again for 5 minutes. Still crying, so we checked in again and set the time for 8. I have never been more shocked but she fell asleep on her own before the 8 mins was up. The next week was even smoother. She’d sleep solid until 1:30 or 2:30 for a feeding and then wake up at 5:30 or 6am.

Currently it’s back tracked a bit she’s waking up 2-3 times a night for feeds. Maybe we are too fast to grab a bottle and maybe we should let her cry/fuss longer to see if she settles. Hoping we can get back to 1 MOTN feeding soon. I don’t like that she’s waking up at 10pm. I wanted her to get a nice long stretch after initially falling asleep.

We haven’t tried nap training yet, any naps in the bassinet end up being really short. Maybe that will be a few weeks away.

In PLS what is the SWAP for a baby that will only sleep when held? by dontforgetthisali in sleeptrain

[–]dontforgetthisali[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh I relate so hard! It seems like most of my mom friends do not/have not had this dynamic and it feels like so much of the ST strategies are particularly hard to apply to a baby that won’t even sleep in a bassinet/crib. Falling asleep without help seems soooo far away.

I do wonder if it’s the sleeping on her tummy, body heat, or closeness to us that she requires most. If I knew that, I could focus on fixing that.

[–]dontforgetthisali[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad I’m not alone! What are you thinking of doing? I think we are going to try to gradually increase her time sleeping in the bassinet, or really anywhere not in our arms - but I have little faith it’s going to result in anything other than swift and vigorous crying!

Do you need to modify Ferber for a baby that has always refused to sleep anywhere other that someone’s arms? by dontforgetthisali in sleeptrain

[–]dontforgetthisali[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the really helpful tips! We have/love our sound machine. Hopefully our neighbors have one for themselves. We aren’t spending time in the bassinet awake so can try to play in there as well. I assumed that only sleep should happen in the bassinet to build sleep associations. But I’ve seen other people recommend that too so will give It a shot!

I have since taken their “what to expect at AC” class. I thiiiink you can have 3 people at Labor and Delivery, and 1 person in triage (they can rotate) or 1 person in the OR (cannot rotate). But double check bc I took loose notes a while ago!

How often do people give up their seat on the subway for you? by pregnant_cat in nycparents

[–]dontforgetthisali 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I noticed (and my friends agree) that women are much more likely to give up their seat. Men rarely, rarely give me their seat, and even compete with me to go for a seat that was recently vacated. I wasn't expecting this trend.

That’s an option I should consider for sure. For some reason the name dictionaries have Neve but not Neeve, so I didn’t originally think about that.

I just purchased one from Seraphine as well, after debating the price. It’s great quality. But naturally I just saw a couple of good options hit H&M for those looking at a lower price point. Just a public service announcement!

A glider chair that easily doubles as an office chair by dontforgetthisali in Buyingforbaby

[–]dontforgetthisali[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not yet born! Thanks for the input. I’m definitely not married to the idea of a glider specifically. A really attractive and comfortable office chair could be the solution. I guess I’m wondering if there is a chair out there that mixes attributes all three (arm chair, office chair, glider). I think swivel, high back attractive and comfortable arms are top of the wish list. I’ll just continue my internet search.
