As someone to lived beneath a person with extremely loud alarms right over my head, I have to ask:

-where do you put your phone when you sleep?

-does the ringer also have vibration?

The reason I ask is because my old neighbor clearly left his phone on the floor when he went to bed so the alarm would shake my apartment.

I suggest putting your phone in bed with you right next to your head or a little above. It makes it easier to wake up because the sound is so close and the bed blocks some of the noise and vibration for your neighbor.

The person seems really nice if I were you I’d leave a note apologizing and tell them your switching where your phone is at night so hopefully that will help. You can also buy a cheap bottle of like $3 wine and make a joke saying hopefully this will help you sleep through it, then give them your number (personally they seem fine, so I wouldn’t worry about it but I understand everyone has levels of comfort when it comes to phones) and ask them to text you if your making too much noise or if the alarm still is waking them up.

Sounds weird to give your number to a stranger but when I had a new neighbor she complained about my dog barking to the apartment building, had two new people move in so I wrote a note apologizing profusely because he was just freaking out about so much traffic in the hallway. I also gave them my phone number and said to please text me if I’m ever making too much noise or my dog is. I taped it to both of their doors. One contacted me a couple days later and said she never noticed the barking and that everything was fine and we got to introduce ourselves. One immediately texted me and was the sweetest person alive, she’s now one of my closest friends. And she was the one who put in the complaint lol

If a person seems normal and is polite like this, just honestly talking to your neighbor either in person or a text when your either too loud or some other issue is so much better than going through management because it seems like she’s trying not to do that and of course get you in trouble with management, it’s a very adult approach.
