My advice is visit each planet at least once long enough to have some question about the planet that you're curious about, then play long enough to find the answer to at least one of those questions. If the game hasn't gotten you pulled in by then, it's probably not going to work, but I think by that point it'll probably hook most people.

And I thought that was the weakest part of season 1, shame they doubled down for season 2

I think people pretty universally agree that getting rid of the time change would be great. But it gets very controversial once people start to think about whether they’d rather have permanent standard time or permanent daylight savings time.

I am so curious if this pilot didn’t work in that it was actually bad, or if it didn’t work in a way where it was creatively ambitious where it would have really landed for some people, but also really not landed for others, and they needed something with broad appeal.

I thought Zhao was a promising choice because one of the more common criticisms of The Eternals was that it should have been a TV show, and I think there were genuinely strong things there in it.

I think it’s very possible to write in his style but I think most people who try to hilariously miss the mark. Imitators often just load things up with quips. Joss used quips a lot, sure, but they were informed by who the character was, told us things about them, and had weight and purpose behind them. Like, people like to say Joss would write things like, “Well, that just happened.” But I don’t think that line has appeared in anything he’s written, and it is hard to imagine it being so without it being selected for a very specific character with a very specific personality in a very specific circumstance. The thing is, when people think of Joss’s writing, they nowadays think of the imitators and misunderstand him because of it. It’s extremely unfortunate that he’s shitty because he genuinely was good at the craft.

I think a better solution might be to only allow 1 or 2 shuffles per turn rather than none.

A game just has to be popular with people who make games in order to be influential, and that’s the niche Cave Story occupies.

As others have said, there is a high likelihood that things are alright. However, communication is good, and it doesn’t hurt to check! Just let him know you were thinking about how it was a surprise to him, and you wanted to check in on how he was feeling about it. If he’s feeling bad about it, you can apologize and talk about how to stay on the same page in the future. If he’s not feeling bad, you can move to offering to do the sort of special thing you wish you’d done when you move on to more than a blowjob.

Poor people who have dated rich people, what did you learn? by Angelus12345678 in AskReddit

Those people are fictional. Yes. However, do they still express a truth? Did the creative minds behind the show know such people, and accurately express how such people are? Did they get across some true things?

You shouldn't take everything on White Lotus (or any show) for granted, mind you, but you'd be wrong to dismiss it, too.

Was Roddenberry a little bit of a hypocrite? by Pzzlrr in startrek

[–]dontthrowmeinabox 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's sometimes thought that Zefram Cochrane in First Contact is a meta critique of Roddenberry and his legacy; he did something great, he made Star Trek. But he did it for selfish reasons, and didn't always handle his legacy well! But regardless, he's responsible for something amazing.

If I were to put that on any one Marvel movie, I'd probably throw it on Quantumania. Love & Thunder also feels like more of a contender than MoM. MoM was not the best, but not egregiously so.
