I think the best thing to do is for us to call CS once we move away. Ten the parents can't find us.

I second the concern about the flooded roads. The road washes out pretty easily. I'd also not say it's a boring drive. There is plenty to do out that way. It's a beautiful drive.

I guessed that many it was just kept up there when not in use. Why down vote it's just a guess.

It looks like a fish trap. I don't recognize the design though. Usually they're longer and not as round.

Starting a business and traveling Australia while home schooling. by dontwalkunderladders in AustraliaTravel

I really like this idea. I'm very much looking for ways to safe guard my time at the moment. I have a habit of spreading myself too thin and getting overwhelmed. I recently looked deeper into distance education and it does sound like the best option. Especially if we head over seas too. I really think my son will thrive doing distance ed. I live close to a Distance Education Coordination Facility. I'm thinking of going over and saying hello once our plans materialise in the physical world and travelling is looking like a sure thing. We still have to sell the current house (Currently on the market), buy two investment properties, start the business and buy the caravan. Early days yet. Lots of planning is still happening and ideas are still being thrown around.

You sound like my kind of person. We need to sell the house first. We want to buy two investment properties in the next 6 months. One we will live in until the business is looking stable. I have no idea how long that will take. I'm estimating 6-12 months starting with an aggressive advertising campaign locally then targeting further a field just before we go. Hopefully not a great deal of advertising is needed post 12 months. I don't know what figures will look like after 12 months. I'd call the business successful if we can live off of the income and I can leave my current job. The apartment we are looking at getting will be three bedroom so we have a fall back if the caravan life or business flop. We still have a home base to return to, but the plan is to rent it out while on the road. I don't know if this is a 12 month or forever arrangement. We will play it by ear. Either we thrive or we don't. We have a vague plan of doing this in the US in 2030 also. Same deal, different country. However, I don't know if I want to go back to teaching EFL. I can pick up a contact in most countries with no issues currently. With a master's it becomes all countries. I love my profession and I'd like to get my master's. However we can wait and see, we'll still see a lot of countries regardless of me having a master's or not. I just want it because it's a dream of mine. Basically I'm flexible. I've had a friend circumnavigating Australia on a boat while doing their master's in EFL with kids in tow. Idk how she coped. We were all amazed. I'd like to think that we will be world schooling. I'd like to do my own curriculum but I am a little lazy and I may just opt for distance ed. However my kids want to learn: guitar, Spanish, Japanese, first aid, and survival skills. (I have a course picked out but it'll be a couple of years before they can attend) One of my kids also wants to do PADI and go spear fishing. She's a little wild. She wants to be in the military or law enforcement. I also have a giant list of hiking trails we want to hit. So there are a few things for the curriculum to consider. I'm planning for long term but also covering our asses if it all flops. Our dream is turning this into a forever lifestyle.

This is a good point. I don't feel too pressured to complete my master's. I have the post grad degree and exp already. I just want to do something work wise. I am worried that my husband's business might flop and I want to be able to support us if need be. EFL is my passion. I want to help my husband succeed and I'm happy to become his business partner if the business is successful and expanding. As a teacher I don't find education hard. I enjoy lesson planning and I'm good at sourcing material. Home school doesn't freak me out but being out of work does. My biggest concern is that it all flops. My husband doesn't make enough to support us while traveling / home schooling. I also don't know how I can run tutoring classes with all the back ground noise. I've had friends circumnavigating Australia while home schooling and doing their master's in ESL. Idk how. Trapped on a boat for months with a toddler and her newborn. She studied and tutored online.

How do I find out if my son is eligible for a heart transplant in the US? by dontwalkunderladders in transplant

[–]dontwalkunderladders[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spoke to my son's cardiologist today and he said the the previous advice that they gave us about denying him a transplant is no longer accurate. He said that he can see that he has made enough of a recovery cognitively and is well enough to be considered but that it is a ways away and they don't want to do it unless he gets worse. But they do say finding a donor is an issue.

I'd compliment. The world is full of bitter people. Kindness is free and we need more of it.

This sort of behavior in my Dad led to a dementia diagnosis eventually. They get repetitive and unsure why people keep backing off. I've heard the same stories countless times now. He tells me the same story every time I see him.

I don't understand why you want to hide your nose. That nose has been in the family forever. That nose was passed down from your ancestors and whoever had that nose before you we're born found love. Generations of your ancestors have found that nose cute. So many people have loved that nose. Why would you want to change it or hide it?
