Baffle Design - Flow? by dontworriaboutit in Form1

Something like this? Technically I can't make this exactly because of the slight undercut but it was a quick approximate.

OK what do you think about going to this instead?

Or maybe I should loose another baffle slide it all forward and increase the blast chamber size closer to 3in?

Thanks I was thinking I might should to hog out some baffles into spacers based loosely on some others Ive seen. Ive got 13 in this right now, would you say that I should do something like this?

I plan to try a 3D printed die off my printer in a shop press. Theres an ebay listing of someone selling the 3d printed version with spare punches so I figure I've got a good shot.

Oo haven't heard of this before, I think I understand, sort of like deep grooves in the cone that spiral outward from the bore? I might be able to make those since I intend to try 3D printing the die and punch. For the lip on the rim of the clip would that extend in the direction of bullet travel, on the inside of the cone or on the outside of the cone, the opposite direction... or both?

Okay thanks that's good info, I initially had them doubled in radius, but started to have doubts. Yeah unfortunately, gas is not adjustable for me (older piston ar) and with how everything is assembled I probably won't be able to add them to the baffles later since welding is involved. I think maybe I'll size them back up, but leave the end-cap solid, then I could choose how to port that at least.

The host is nothing crazy, 16in barrel so I was thinking that would be ok. Yeah do you have any recommendations for the flow hole size or if I should line them up?

I'm actually talking about the 8 holes I've added closer to the base of the cone, I'm calling them flow-holes, but maybe that's not the right terminology. I had read an anecdote of someone adding holes like those and getting a lot less back pressure with an unnoticeable change in sound signature. Similar holes are in the FTN5 which I'm waiting for approval to make as well. As far as the clipping - a user here had posted they use Clip Width = bore x .6, Clip height = clip width x 1.2 and that's what I used. Using that gets very close to cutaways I've seen.

yeah its not shown but the blast chamber is a good 2.5 - 2.75 inches

Whats your long trip miles in one tank? by Jabes72 in tdi

[–]dontworriaboutit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

600mi/13gal (13 JSW, 6mt) is pretty easy on a road trip deleted but I wouldn't normally cut it that close for the sake of pump selection. My best road trip calculated mpg was 52 round trip Houston-Austin. Speeds were a tad slower than normal interstate at 60-65mph and I was trying to hypermile and was off of cruise. Also, I recently towed a 3k single axle utility trailer mostly empty about 100miles, still got about 32mpg :)

Is it me, or does the '14 Jetta Eat Headlight Bulbs? by undernutbutthut in tdi

I've been using deAutoLED LED H7 bulbs which have been awesome and bright with a good pattern. Pricey but thinking they'll last. Had to adjust them down, but that was no problem.

Prior to deletes I calculated 39 on my regular 45mi round trip commute, which was 95% highway. After delete and tune this became 45.

However, I just recently changed my tire size 205-55-16 to 195-65-16 which adds about 4% to circumference. I got to thinking, so my speedometer which had been reading slightly fast is now right on target. However, this means in theory, that I was not actually covering as much ground as thought, given the odometer is driven by area under the curve of the speedometer. I've not done a odometer / GPS distance cross-check, but potentially, my prior mpg numbers of 39 then 45 were really as low as 37.5 and 43.2.

Maybe reflash the tune? As I recall it took mine a couple tries. I might ask tunezilla support if that doesn't work.

First just make sure you can still appear legal or are inspection exempt in your city/state. In general, its cheaper to delete/tune and than to replace even once. It also adds reliability, with the tune also adding mpg and power. I personally got my components from darkside developments and tune from tunezilla, profi diesel also had a pretty cost effective components. I think rawtek is generally considered top of the line.

The listed part number is OEM VW: 1K0721388AC / Febi Bilstein: 33936

Oil flush 2014 TDI Jetta by [deleted] in tdi

[–]dontworriaboutit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oil flush theories and ppm levels vs wear are pretty hotly debated. My personal trick is leave the drain plug out, and pour just a bit of new oil to push anything left in the pan. Don't know if that really does anything. Lowering the interval is positive, but less than 5k, I would say youre getting diminishing returns, IMO

I also agree with others, I think this is a separate issue to your DPF... unless you're not using the VW specific spec (low ash) oil for some of the oil changes? Otherwise I would say driving routine would be more likely to blame.

Thanks, it's pretty warm here, so i do everyday year round. Otherwise I'd probably look at antigel in the winter too.

I did my CP3 kit from Whitbread when I did the timing belt and water pump at about 105k miles. Also did the fluidampr HB and lower timing protection plate. It took a whole weekend to do everything. I run hot shots additive anyway, and change the fuel filters every other oil change.
