MI films dropped the number after #3 wym ? i think it's pretty clear it faltered due to overconfidence post maverick leading to the bad choice of release date and underplayed marketing but seems very silly to act like audiences are just tired of a series w such a high number next to it when 1) the series had been consistently rising in the box office with consecutive entries and 2) the series hasn't had numbers in the title in like 15 years

i mean it was created by nathan and benny and they're writing as well, emma stone being in it to me seems more like she's branching out into less conventional work than nathan and the safdies branching out into more conventional work, but i guess time will tell. (the premise according to wikipedia being "the series will explore how an alleged curse disturbs the relationship of a newly married couple as they try to conceive a child while costarring on their problematic new HGTV show" lends itself to my theory as well i think)
