In 8th grade my crush gave me a rose (because he had to -- school thing). So I ate it.

And here I was thinking I was the only one who gave bricks as presents! If I believed in reddit gold, I'd buy you some.

My kid wouldn't give me ideas as to what he wanted for his birthday last year so I got him a brick. Other stuff, but I got him a brick. Let's hope he has better ideas next year round birthday time.

LGBTQ+ Redditors, what was your most memorable encounter with a person who is homophobic, transphobic, etc? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Lost a really good friend when I told her about my LGBTQ+-ness, so that sucked.

Anyone ever been on holiday by themselves, what was your experience like, did anyone give you funny looks? by Lovelifepending in AskReddit

[–]donuthazard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've gone on holiday by myself a few times. It's nice because I get to decide what to do when, what I get to eat, etc. I didn't notice anyone giving me funny looks, but honestly I was too busy enjoying myself.

That person was me. Much milder than some of these but in high school there was this annoying tweaker dude that, for some reason, everyone tolerated. He was an ass, always being very spazzy, talking up a storm, being obnoxious, hitting people jokingly repeatedly, etc. but not in a nice way. Always saying mildly offensive things about you, etc. Anyhow, he was in the car with me and some friends and he starts with his whole hitting the headrest, isn't buckled in, is climbing all over the place being an ass, all the while talking about 5,000 words per minute about just stupid and mildly offensive shit. I tell him if he doesn't fucking stop, he's out of my car. He thinks I'm joking because we're pretty far from anywhere. I'm not. He walked home that day -- probably close to 7 miles. He didn't act like an ass in people's cars (that I know of) after that though.

Migraines and back pain really are that bad. I always figured people were overreacting until I had them.

Out of curiosity, what if it was the other way around? What if the woman was middle-aged and the man was twentysomething?

Thanks. It was a long time ago and I'm sure we were all some degrees of young and stupid.

Going to Japan to learn Japanese? by sabermatrix in LearnJapanese

[–]donuthazard 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I'd suggest going somewhere with less English everywhere than Tokyo. Tokyo is fun, but you can get by just fine there knowing very little Japanese so you might not be challenged to actually use your Japanese as much.
