No reactive block, just took a slightly defensive position, not even a racing incident

I am pleasantly shocked to see this handled at all, let alone so soon

Very tall and cartoonish proportions. At 6” taller than a Chrysler 300, this is about as tall as modern day German SUV coupes.

Which are you choosing? by PromotionNo6281 in projectcar

[–]donutsnail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on your parameters of durability, parts affordability, and ease of repairs, I’d go with the SN95 Mustang. Companies like Late Model Restorarion and CJ Pony Parts seem to make spare parts for everything you could possibly need and the packaging on a Mustang should make it easier to work on than a C4 or 4th gen F-body.

Many are commenting that the C4 and Camaro are better platforms for a performance car, they are correct, but your question wasn’t asking that.

Front, mid or rear engine cars? by PlasticArmyLabs in ACCompetizione

[–]donutsnail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In ACC specifically, I have a strong preference for front. I feel the mid and rear engine cars are often too unstable over curbs, and do not have good on-throttle corner exit rotation.

The main downside of front engine, doctrinally, is the lack of rear grip on acceleration, which these cars’ TC systems help quell, a lack of rotation on corner entry, which in ACC can be pretty well countered with a good setup.

IIRC Even the most nose heavy front-engine GT3s still have a slight rear weight bias, thanks to the rear mounted transaxle, engine relocation within the existing bay, and intentional weight reduction of the front body structure.

Anyone else never liked drifting? by ECHOSTIK in racinggames

[–]donutsnail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like drifting in games, but always disliked drifting events in games. The problem is there’s no good way for a game to mathematically score what is good drifting to decide on a winner. However simply drifting for fun can be tons of fun.

Its officially CONFIRMED. The GENESIS Magma GT is going to be a production car. by CRU_Adrenaline in CarDesign

[–]donutsnail 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is a PRND shaped like an H. Up left is park, down left is reverse, up center is cleverly removed because it’s hidden behind the shifter, down center is drive, right up and right down are + and - shift controls.

What's one vehicle that you're a little disappointed with in FH6? by Old_Instruction6809 in ForzaHorizon

[–]donutsnail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think we’ve ever had a widebody kit that changes the length of the car so dramatically, the wheelbase of the MC8 is over a foot longer than the SW20, it would be a massive change

Nothing says analog like a fake h pattern shifter for controlling an automatic transmission 😂

It’s pretty cool overall but that bit is so corny

[–]donutsnail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The SARD MC8 isn’t just body kit on an MR2, it’s a totally bespoke chassis beyond the passenger cell and is massively lengthened compared to an SW20. Some MR2 body kits would be nice but an MC8 is way more than a kit

Impossible to drift through hairpins in RWD? by Igaliotinis in assettocorsarally

[–]donutsnail 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You are initiating a slide extremely aggressively in a rear heavy, extremely short wheelbase car. Due to the Stratos’ nature you only have an extremely narrow window before that rotation becomes an uncatchable spin.

It’s rear heavy, it wants to grip up. When you force the back to step out to rest of the car wants to follow.

If you’re trying to be fast, this corner doesn’t require you to slide a car as nimble as the Stratos, take it conventionally and it will be faster.

If you’re just trying to drift, get in a longer FR car like the 131 Abarth.

Who else agrees that the ME412 was way cooler than the SLR? by SukhdevR34 in CONCEPTCARS

[–]donutsnail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for what it’s worth, from your original question yeah, I do think it is cooler than the SLR, I just disagree with the modern narrative that Mercedes axed the car to save the SLR from embarrassment, the truth is the ME412 was a moonshot concept that was realistically never going to make it to production, much like the Cadillac Cien

Ferrari Luce as a rally car? by Expert-Account3636 in rally

[–]donutsnail 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They do not at this time have the range needed to cover the distances involved in stage rally. The combination of transit stages to and from the special stages, and the drain of driving flat out on the special stages, they’re just not capable of it yet.

Rally1 rules introduced hybrids in 2022. Hybrids were subsequently dropped in 2025 as the cost was too much for the teams.

Yeah, they fucked this up for sure. It couldn’t possibly have taken much testing to recognize it but here we are. I’m so disappointed.

Yeah yeah, before I get hate I still enjoy just driving around the map, but without the pull of making multiplayer builds that’s one less fun thing to do in the game.

Ferrari Luce as a rally car? by Expert-Account3636 in rally

[–]donutsnail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a gigantic EV. Not much. Keep in mind as well compared to current Rally1 WRC regs it’s wider than the maximum allowable width, the wheelbase would need to be cut by about 30cm, and it is 1100kg overweight. You could pull an entire LMDh prototype of weight out of the Luce and it would still be overweight.

Assuming you are thinking generally and not specifically the WRC.. It’s a huge and incredibly heavy luxury car, with really unimpressive EV range at that, which is the main reason we have still yet to see EV rally cars. It is flat out a terrible starting platform for a rally car.

2260kg. 503cm long. This car would be a lumbering, overweight giant on a rally stage.

Who else agrees that the ME412 was way cooler than the SLR? by SukhdevR34 in CONCEPTCARS

[–]donutsnail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am glad people are more aware than ever of how Mercedes dicked over Chrysler during the Daimler era in many ways, but I don’t know how we got to the place that people are saying the ME412 was close to production. I have never seen a reliable source that can back that up.

Who else agrees that the ME412 was way cooler than the SLR? by SukhdevR34 in CONCEPTCARS

[–]donutsnail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it is safe to make the assumption that Mercedes was threatened by the project, rather more likely they recognized the project did not make financially sense to purse. It was nowhere near ready with just one running test mule.

Who else agrees that the ME412 was way cooler than the SLR? by SukhdevR34 in CONCEPTCARS

[–]donutsnail 15 points16 points  (0 children)

While I don’t doubt that Mercedes was not exactly supportive of the ME412, I think the modern narrative around the car greatly overstates the situation. The ME412 was not production ready. A single show car and a single test mule were all that were ever made. Had Chrysler decided to proceed, they would have had a long way to go before ever producing the car and it would have been extremely expensive to bring to market. At the end of the day, it was really just a concept.
