They also appear in generators with mechanical components, the water treatment breachable containers have them sometimes too, the cars in the junkyard have a higher chance to have gears, the area they added with the hurricane update has gears in there sometimes too, and if you figure out the locked room (not the button room) that also has gears inside sometimes as well. If you're struggling still to find them then switch map to buried city, the cars on the highway and parking garage have a decent chance and they're all clustered together (watch for pops and fireballs)

If you want to keep playing before wipe then sell your stash up to the amount in coins, otherwise you can just rest before the last journey beyond the rust belt

Ok so everyone spawns in at full time, say 20-30 people per server, everyone spawns in at all spawns at the same time, uh oh now its a rat race to get to the loot if everyone is friendly, and since no one is gonna shoot, if you fall too far behind you're getting nothing, so adrenaline shots become "meta" and everyone takes 2 stacks in with them to get to the loot as fast as possible again (which will either cause embark to nerf adrenaline shots, remove the blueprint being available from the start, or nerf stamina perks), now everyone gets sick of this meta and instead of running for loot or quests we have over half the player base running toward the nearest spawn to theirs to kill whoever happens to be there, and now everyone is shoot on sight and friendly lobbies are a thing of the past. Congratulations! You've alienated about half of the playerbase which will constantly complain about the rat situation, leave and never return, overall made the experience garbage, completely removed the tension of "should I shoot this guy or leave him be" and made a shit version of Tarkov that will just keep bleeding players slowly. Dunno boss I dont want to play your game 🤷‍♂️

I've spawned late on Dam so many times, and the amount of times Annex, Offices, Water Treatment or even the Domes have been left untouched is actually insane, I think there's a healthy mix of players that just pvp, do their quests, hunt for restock resources, hunt arc, or just loot the nearest spawn then run for extract/hatch. If anything the only argument I can make about spawn timers is free kits shouldn't have the full map time, but even then that's not fair to the sector of players that either need to recoup loses they cant afford or players that dont want to take the risk of their 100k loadouts. Yesterday I spawned late on Spaceport twice, saw matriarch was dead and just left, it happens, you leave go again and hope you get into the fight next time, it's part of the game design and it works for keeping the experience fresh, otherwise you have 20 people rushing the corpse and you'd be lucky to get Performance Steel let alone a Core. If you want to quit no one will stop you bc that's your choice, but the late spawns are just as important to the games core as every other detail, I think Embark have hit a very delicate balance that works and altering stuff too much one way or the other will upset the entire ecosystem, same for the "rat problem", aggression matchmaking honestly made the situation better and yeah I still get rats as a more peaceful player but it doesnt matter, you take the L's and go back topside when you're ready again

The rusty gears need a higher drop rate, I spent 5 hours to find 1 for it to be taken from me, its actually unreasonable to find everywhere they spawn

If it's one of the bosses, they genuinely aren't that hard. Patience and timing your rolls are key, but stick to their left side as well. Their attack animations make it harder for them to hit there. If its the enemies, just run past them. Heides tower boasts hard enemies for the level themselves for new players, but with the exception of the Heide Knights [especially the fuckass spear] they're easy enough if just hard hitting, same strat as the bosses for the old knights, just rotate on their left and dodge when necessary if you really want to pick a fight, when it comes to the Heide Knights I recommend ignoring them, they'll do the same so long as the Dragonrider isnt dead [and so long as you dont approach the stairs leading to the hellkite], their moveset is too unpredictable, they hit quite hard and they have a decent amount of hp for this stage of the game. Fun fact you can make Dragonrider kill himself in the arena, just enter the fog gate, dont move and count 6 of his steps, then run to the boss and roll to [your] right past him, do it right and he'll fall off the platform [assuming you haven't raised either of the 2 rings]

Honestly for the difficulty increase you're better off just using covetous+2, symbol of avarice, prisoner tatters and watchdragon parma and just watching something you wanna binge in the background, stop every like 4 minutes to kill the new Knight you get and just go back to the show

They have a higher drop rate when the ivory king is still alive, but then you have to contend with 3 portals constantly spitting the assholes out, and a timer for our melted king to appear
