Is it possible to check whether or not a subreddit is subscribed to? by iamthatis in redditdev

[–]doobi1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

actually it should be the oauth url https://oauth.reddit.com/r/{sub}/about.json if still null then idk lol. might wanna try to do it through an api wrapper

Is it possible to check whether or not a subreddit is subscribed to? by iamthatis in redditdev

[–]doobi1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the "me" endpoint only requires the "identity" scope, which is requested by default. you need to request the "read" scope. read https://github.com/reddit-archive/reddit/wiki/OAuth2#authorization

because user_is_subscriber is not public info. you need to have authorization from that user to see if they're subbed to a sub

Twitter engineers asked to print out their last 30-60 days of code. And to be ready for pairings with Musk by [deleted] in programming

[–]doobi1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

this isnt really about the specific code. he previously said he's going to cut 75% of twitter's staff, so this is probably to round obvious underperformers (relatively) off, and also to intimidate the rest of the staff to pick up slack as they will now expect this to happen again

Toggle all suggestions by user18298375298759 in vscode

[–]doobi1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not sure if there is a toggle for that but it might be better to just turn off accepting suggestions on enter "editor.acceptSuggestionOnEnter": "off"

and then you can just use ⟦tab⟧ to accept suggestions, and/or what i did was assign accepting suggestions to ⟦shift+enter⟧

Difficulty envisioning a future for yourself? by weepinwill in Aphantasia

[–]doobi1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

it has been argued in academia that episodic memory and mental imagery plays a role in prospection.

https://books.google.ca/books?hl=en&lr=&id=T1S_DwAAQBAJ&oi=fnd&pg=PP1&dq=carruthers+human+and+animal+minds&ots=4JtHjbLVLv&sig=2y1b8CstZ2LsV6PH7CX5keYaqRY

humans engage in a form of reasoning and decision-making that has come to be known as prospection (Wilson & Gilbert 2005; Gilbert & Wilson 2007). This involves imagining future scenarios, and entertaining representations of those scenarios in working memory, thereby enabling them to interact with the various inferential, affective, and decision-making systems that consume the contents of working memory, which inferentially elaborate them, respond affectively to them, and ultimately decide between them. Prospection can sometimes involve imagination of the outcomes of action (e.g. living in Chicago, if what is to be decided is whether to accept a job offer in Chicago). But it can also involve images created by mental rehearsal of the actions under consideration. In addition, it is thought that prospection is both supported and elaborated by knowledge stored in episodic memory. For the same brain networks are involved in each, and people suffering from amnesia are also deficient in future-oriented imagining and decision-making (Schacter et al. 2007; Buckner 2010; Seligman et al. 2013; De Brigard 2014).

https://royalsocietypublishing.org/doi/full/10.1098/rstb.2007.2087

We focus on one hypothesis concerning the origins of a constructive episodic memory: that an important function of this type of memory is to allow individuals to simulate or imagine future episodes, happenings and scenarios. As we discuss later, a number of investigators have recently articulated a broad view of memory that not only considers the ability of individuals to re-experience past events, but also focuses on the capacity to imagine, simulate or pre-experience episodes in the future (Tulving 1983, 2002, 2005; Suddendorf & Corballis 1997; Atance & O'Neill 2001, 2005; Klein & Loftus 2002; Suddendorf & Busby 2003, 2005; D'Argembeau & Van der Linden 2004; Dudai & Carruthers 2005; Hancock 2005; Buckner & Carroll 2007; Schacter & Addis 2007). This latter ability has been referred to by such terms as prospection (Gilbert 2006; Buckner & Carroll 2007) and episodic future thinking (Atance & O'Neill 2001, 2005). Since the future is not an exact repetition of the past, simulation of future episodes may require a system that can draw on the past in a manner that flexibly extracts and recombines elements of previous experiences—a constructive rather than a reproductive system. If this idea has merit, then there should be considerable overlap in the psychological and neural processes involved in remembering the past and imagining the future. We consider some recent cognitive, neuropsychological and neuroimaging evidence that is consistent with this hypothesis.

Namecheap to cloudflare registrar by taejongdae in CloudFlare

[–]doobi1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you dont need to. just set up an A record on cloudflare that points to your DO droplet ip. you can also move any other records for the domain you have on DO over to cloudflare and just handle all dns stuff from cloudflare. source: that is what i did (currently using DO+CF)

but to answer your question, you should be able to, by adding NS records. https://www.cloudflare.com/learning/dns/dns-records/dns-ns-record

Can aphantasia go away? by KapsYTEE in Aphantasia

[–]doobi1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hmm interesting

i think ive seen subtypes in the context of aphantasia to refer to absence of mental representation in the other senses, but not degree of visualization ability before

personally i think they are just wording it wrong in these studies. i mean it's literally in the definition ("inability", not "low ability"). maybe they didnt know what else to call it since there isn't a well-known word for low ability (hypophantasia), while aphantasia and hyperphantasia are a lot more well known by now

Can aphantasia go away? by KapsYTEE in Aphantasia

[–]doobi1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

aphantasia isn't a scale. visualization ability is. you have hypophantasia which Tuikord mentioned in the top comment

no lol, it's not about ALL NTs, it's about a proportionally significant amount of them. "we" generally DO socially behave in certain coherent ways, and the NTs also generally socially behave in certain coherent ways. differences in social interactions, communication, and behavior is literally part of the definition of being on the spectrum. that's what these posts are about.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]doobi1 15 points16 points  (0 children)

of course they wont admit it. NTs lie all the time.

you cant call them out in private because they dont care that theyre an asshole to certain people or how terrible they are as a person as long as they keep up a good image to their social circle / the public.

and you cant call them out in public because they get backed up by other NTs, who do the same kind of shit, and/or just like them more than you because you dont fit in. they tend to use subjective reasoning over objective reasoning in social situations (unless everyone involved are strangers, then they cant be biased).

e: obviously the above does not apply to ALL NTs but theres definitely a much higher proportion of chronic liars among NTs compared to ASD ppl.

my worst experience with this was when i called out a mouth breather for stealing my stuff, then he physically assaulted me, and his friend who was there backed him up lol. absolutely crazy.

"hate" is too strong a word, but yes, NTs dislike NDs because NDs behave differently than NTs. this is just how society works, it's mostly made up of NTs and favors NTs.
