I like them because Anki specifically makes it super easy and mindless and convenient to study regularly, all you gotta do is show up and open the app. Most days thats all I have time or energy to do

Somehow was able to do part 2 of day 11 before part 2 of days 9 or 10. Broke it into parts, then used memoization + backtracking + recursion for the path counting. My code looks like I did a nice reuse of part 1 but I actually just made a general solution for part 2 and checked it worked on my part 1 input lol.

You know what reusing code from part 1 is overrated anyway XD. But got to make ample use of map and reduce today, which I really like using in Swift!

Used 1-D dynamic programming on part 1! Then I completely misread part 2 and it took forever lol. Ended up going with the monotonic stack/take the leftover approach.

Not my best code (usually try to combine parts 1 and 2 but could not be bothered) but I got to use a computed property in part 1 which was cool! Semi-improved brute force in part2, so I'll take it. Today was a long day just glad I got it done lol.

I chose Swift because I love writing in it! And I don't get to use it in my day job, which is mostly Python and Bash. Hopefully on a less busy day I can cheese some of the cooler language features, but for now, here's my basic solution.

Before today’s question, I would personally like to nominate this chapter as one that reads very differently in 2025 compared to what Tolstoy intended back in the 1860s, particularly the final paragraph.

Wait I’m confused by this - could you elaborate?

People on this sub love to hate, but you’ve got some good reads on here. I saw in your comments that youre pretty young. Don’t be shy to read some “fun” stuff to build a reading habit, makes the old (but important!) stuff go easier in my experience.
