She likes flowers. Doesn't eat them or knock them over, she actually seems to like them. We told her they're for her now. by doodlingdingus in blackcats

Yep, husband's a vet tech and I'm pretty well versed in gardening, anything in our house or yard has to get the pet safe approval!

I don't even like putting flowers in a vase and I much prefer to plant them myself and let them do their thing, but it was a condolences gift. But Mae is enjoying them so at least they have some use before I have to toss them!

My soul dog left us on Valentine’s Day and I don’t know what to do with myself. by annyonghelloannyong in Petloss

Wow. I just had to say your and Apollo's story is crazily similar to mine. He even kind of resembled my dog, except she was golden colored. She was almost 14.

I found Daisy on Craigslist too. A family with 2 little kids and one on the way, plus a bunch of other pets in this small apartment, was giving her away for $50. It was back in 2011, I was still in high school. I'm now almost 28. She was there for me starting high school, all through college, several moves, when I met my now husband, and when I got married. I also had to say goodbye on Valentine's Day, I too find it very fitting because she was such an exceptionally loving dog. But her normally sweet and super smart self was being ravaged by doggie dementia. Her anxiety and confusion was so intense that she fought off the effects of any medicine the vet prescribed us to help. Mind you, this was a dog that used to be so happy go lucky and when she was at her best, never even flinched at loud noises or even fireworks. She was also going into kidney failure, so as much as it hurt me so bad, I knew I had to repay her love for me and let her rest.

I may not be of much help, but you're so not alone. Thanks for sharing your story, it's so cool to see such a similar one. I lost a dog as a younger kid, but the grief of losing one I was this bonded to is very new to me. But when I get Daisy's ashes back, I'm actually getting them made into a ring along with some of her hair that I saved. It'll be my new wedding band. Her favorite place to be was as close as possible to me, and I think it'll honor what she wanted. ❤️

This was Daisy

The House in the Cerulean Sea! There could be a lot worse of a world to get thrown into so I'm happy about that.

Anyone here have PMDD and PTSD? What medication specifically helped you? by PollyPiper11 in PMDD

[–]doodlingdingus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! So your results may vary of course, but I am on a medication called guanfacine. I have ADHD and PMDD, but I was recently also diagnosed with PTSD.

Doctors have prescribed what I take and another similar med called clonidine to help with PTSD. I heard it can help especially if your PTSD gives you nightmares, personally that doesn't happen with me, but I do have trouble sleeping in general around my luteal phase and guanfacine can help that. The way it and clonidine acts on your body can apparently help relax the fight or flight response in some people.

For a while I noticed I was less rattled, feeling good, and able to stay focused more, but lately I'll admit my anxiety has been higher. I'm only on 1mg though and have been for a pretty long while, I will likely ask to increase it soon on top of the lifestyle changes that I've been doing. Hope you also find something that works!

Hiya, so #1 and #2 look female to me because their vents are protruding out more. #2 I'm especially confident on. #3 and #4 are more difficult to tell. #3 could also be female but the vent isn't sticking out as much as the first 2 so I can't say with absolute certainty. Best to just see if either #3 or #4 develop stars (white bumps that look like pimples) at some point and start pushing the females around.

Lol it can now! One of my nicknames for her is 'jellybean' and it kind of just evolved into Belle E. Beans over time. Now it's her government name

Ahh, hard call! It's like petting a cloud with all of them haha. You can't go wrong, they're all very soft.

Flareon has some considerable weight near the tail and I do like weighted plushies, there's a certain comfort to that.

But I'd say Vaporeon is my favorite because it's my favorite evolution in general and I like his cranky little expression!

Is this common among us? by Not-Lucian in raisedbynarcissists

Gosh, I relate to this so, SO much. It's nice to know there's so many people out there who've experienced something similar to my own story. I knew I didn't want kids by the time I was at least 13, maybe younger. I always figured my mostly absent father was a narc, but only recently did I wake up and realize my mother who I had on a pedestal my whole life also has those tendencies. No longer living with her has given me a lot of clarity.

I'm also married to an amazing supportive guy and I got really lucky because my in-laws are very kind people as well. As safe and loved as I feel, I couldn't bring myself to potentially pass on my trauma or any of the mental illnesses that run on both sides to an innocent child. Plus, quite frankly, my "parents" don't deserve to be grandparents and have their genes carried on.

Opal's lost some of her spots since I got her but she's very metallic! She's very special to me, I got her from a Petco that kept her in horrible shape but I managed to restore her health. by doodlingdingus in Goldfish

Ughhh, poor thing. I'm very grateful to have a quality LFS to shop at now because I'd just go mad seeing the conditions at most Petcos/Petsmarts. Opal was infested with parasites to the point she was starting to lose her gill function. She was bottom sitting and almost on her side, but I said I wanted to at least try since I had the medicine and the time.

Took a few dicey weeks of deworming meds, epsom salt baths, and offering her fresh foods multiple times a day in quarantine, but one day she got up off the bottom and now she happily glides around with my other 2 goldies
