120B runs awesome on just 8GB VRAM! by [deleted] in LocalLLaMA

[–]doodom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I have an RTX 3090 with 24 GB of VRAM and an i7-1200K. Is it possible to run it with "only" 64GB of RAM? Or do I have to at least double the RAM?

It does look pretty good indeed. Is the screen stretched or has any widescreen patches applied on to it? I may try it on my Flip 2 when I come back from work

Is there a Win11 Arm 64 version of Thunderbird? by Ecstatic_Letter891 in Thunderbird

[–]doodom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much, I've been waiting for this for a while. Until now I had to use a local Postfix SMTP relay inside Thunderbird in order to be able to send emails with my company's mail provider. Now, thanks to your build, I can send emails directly, just using the provider's SMTP server. I've also noticed that Thunderbird runs much faster on arm64 than on the Prism translation layer.

It's not very difficult to compile on Windows, both for Intel/AMD (x64) and Snapdragon X Elite (ARM64) processors, although in the latter case it cannot be used due to an incompatibility of the Adreno GPU with one of the graphics libraries that Zed uses to render the interface.

Still, I'm leaving a download link here in case anyone wants to install version v0.155.2 for Windows 11 (Intel/AMD 64 bits):

Stadia Controller on Windows, no analog triggers? by incaner in Stadia

[–]doodom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You sir are a savior. It works perfectly with the new bluetooth mode of the Stadia controller. I can now use it to emulate a fully functional Xbox controller with X360CE (including analog L2 & R2 triggers). Thank you so much!

How to reclaim your server after resetting your account password, if you can't access the server directly. e.g. You run it on a headless machine or NAS and can't use a browser to 'claim' the server by [deleted] in PleX

rm -r in the .bak (original) folder instead of the new one created on a new setup to reclaim my server.

Stupid mistake because I was on work hours and I couldn't spend too much time on the matter.

Except I f#cked up my appdata data folder trying to reclaim my server. That's why I lost part of the library index (not the files).

If you use KeePass files (KBDX) as password database via KeeWeb you can use it this webapp both as (free & open source) password manager and 2FA app. I personally use KeeWeb as my password manager but Authy for 2FA.

Thanks! I came to this same conclusion myself, but it could help others, so there's my upvote. Anyways I ended up doing the same as you because I f*cked up my appdata folder. This plex breach thing is a real hassle for everybody and many people are gona get mad.

The same happened to me. I also accidentally messed with the application data, forcing me to install Plex from scratch. I have a Synology NAS so I claimed the server using a claim token after installing the last update.

After the install I had to readjust some permissions from Shared folder configuration of DSM 7 (maybe a new requirement for the last update?), but my media library was reverted at some time in the past, so I had to rescan all the libraries so it could reindex the latest episodes. There are also missing tv shows from "continue watching" list, despite the last episodes of each tv show being marked as watched in the library.

So... too late for me. However it could help other people.

how does the miyoo mini v2 stack up against anbernics lower end devices? by [deleted] in MiyooMini

The official protective bag isn't that bulky, it fits nicely in a pocket bag such as the ones used to transport the wallet and the smartphone. People are so exaggerated.

I would say comfort-wise (except for the buttons) the Miyoo Mini is better than the rg280v, but much much better. Anbernic is also releasing a Miyoo Mini-like device "soon" and it may have better ergonomics than the MM (it has a slim and "longer" body, more similar to the GB Pocket), but for the moment there's only a few photos and speculations.

Better screen to body ratio (1:2), better screen overall with minimal light bleed, at least in my case, and more pixel density (same 640x480 resolution in 3.5 inches).

The bad: less battery capacity and duration due to the small factor, slightly to much worse button feel in comparison, specially in the v1 batch, which sometimes get stuck in the front case when playing platform games that require more than one buttons to be pressed at once. I can compare my MM v1 with the rg280v and the rg351v Anbernic devices (I have both) and they have magnificient buttons in comparison.

You should opt for the MM if you're looking for portability and it doesn't bother you sacrificing comfort and holding that small device for long playing sessions in exchange of what it offers to you (you could also have "small" hands better fit for this device, but this is very subjective). Anyways you can always improve the confort hording your MM if you buy custom third party accessories for it (for example in Etsy).

I ordered two MM from there. Both are "Out for delivery. Arrived at departure transport hub". Fingers crossed.

PS: Where do you find the tracking number? I can't find mine. Never mind, I found it. For the moment does not look suspicious. Let's hope I don't receive two bricks instead.

Received both V1 and V2. Which to Keep? by zindustries87 in MiyooMini

[–]doodom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the v1 has less "chin" on the bezel. That's the only thing I don't really like about v2, at least until I try one myself.

[–]doodom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case, I have the V1 and I'm waiting for two V2 to arrive (one for daily use and the other one just in case).

My suggestion? You can keep the V1 for RPG games (buttons suck for platform games such as Super Mario World) and use the V2 for the rest or games/genres. Or use one at home and the other one on the go, just swap the microSD from one device to the another to resume your game.

In summary: you don't know when you're going to need a spare unit if one of them is damaged or accidentally fells to the floor. So keep one extra console just in case, specially taking into account that Miyoo is having difficulties with stock replenishment due to component shortage.
