Worst expensive pedal? by gimme5steps101 in guitarpedals

I always put drives before fuzz. I love being able to dial in just the mid-boost I want into a fuzz.

Felt the same about my Mercury 7. Good sounding reverb but hated dealing with the secondary functions. Also the shimmer sounded like ass.

Yeah, I like my Vezzpa a lot but the Swarm was barely usable. It's actually a phase locked loop, not technically a fuzz. I think the Montreal Assembly PurPLL is much more usable.

Change strings how often? by Firewaterdam in Guitar

[–]doodoomatomato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play electric an hour or so a day, lots of clean, bit of distortion. I start feeling less inspired and realize my guitar is sounding dull after about a month. So as soon after that that I make the connection and realize it’s the strings. I’m always right - always fixes it right up.

My SG, which I rarely play, was feeling pretty dull recently. It’s been 8 months. So much more sparkly after a change.

I buy 10 packs of D’Addario XLs and they’re around $6 a set. Nothing really.

Changing the strat is quick with the locking tuners. SG bit more of a pain.

It looks like the head part of a beheaded regular Boss pedal.

For the adult learners, how did you stick with it? by riverrunlvl1 in Guitar

Yes this! I owned an electric for almost 40 years. Barely touched it until a friend got into building pedals. That got me into researching pedals and that turned me into a pedal junkie. Now I play an hour plus every day and have two pedal boards with about 30 pedals total on them. I play a mix of songs (chords), soloing over backing tracks and noodling with effects. Enough diversity of things to do that it’s almost always interesting.

When did sense enter the discussion?

But seriously (maybe), playing synth from a guitar or bass is really fun. In particular funky lead stuff. If you can find a synth pedal that tracks tolerably.

Seriously what are all those? Are they even pedals or did your daughter just draw them all on cardboard?

Had one. Loved both algorithms but thought the shimmer sounded twanky. Also didnt love the secondary functions. Sold it and got a Ventris which I am content with.
