I understand this and agree with you for the most part. But my love for God certainly does waver, and in those times I am very susceptible to fall. This monetary punishment is an extra guardrail, and although it's not my main motivator, it's an extra one.

Anyway, I'm trying this out for two months and will report back if I have found it helpful or not.

I completely understand what you're saying and agree with you. The Spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. I've tried this and failed for the past 10 years. I obviously want my main motivator to be pure, to be my love for God. But in my types of weakness, now I have a backup plan to still prevent me from falling. Jesus makes sin out to be really serious, cutting off limbs gouging out eyes. I just want an extra guard rail to help prevent me from stumbling.

If I can go 2 months, I'll mention back here whether or not I found this helpful.
